Grand Bend

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! So nice to finally be home again! A brunch and a movie was in order this weekend. I saw 22 Jump Street, which was an ok sequel to 21 Jump Street. The movie had some funny moments but the story is basically the same. The one thing that was cool was the fact they kept alluding to the production budget during the movie and that the studio had allotted twice the budget to basically remake the same film over again hah!

I also went to a super fun day trip to Grand Bend. It had been a while since I went there. It’s only 2.5 hrs away from Toronto. I like Grand Bend, because it’s a lot cuter than Wasaga Beach. They recently built new restaurants and art galleries right by the marina, which is a super sweet spot to grab lunch or dinner. The new Smackwater Jacks Taphouse has a really great patio, with their very own beer on tap and local fish to choose from. Grand Bend is also a great place to go buy antiques for a lot cheaper than in the city. And if a packed beach isn’t your thing, try visiting the Pinery Park and campground, the beach is absolutely stunning and barely occupied. It’s $16 per car for a day at the beach. It is the ideal spot to picnic and swim! (yes we did swim…or snorkelled for some… I could barely feel my legs after being in the water for a few minutes, but it was well worth it!!)

I’m keeping the Grand Bend beach and summer vibes going today with my brand new green Mendocino shorts. These cute drawstring shorts are ultra comfy and practical. I love the cutout pattern at the bottom, it gives them a “dentelle-like” feel. I paired the shorts with my leopard & gold tank and some gold accessories!

Seeing Blue #DailyOutfit

Happy Friday everyone! Incredibly excited for the weekend! Running, watching movies, playing music (yes, yes, you read right!) and eating good food are on the program for the next two days. What are your plans for the weekend?

I’ve been watching so many movies and docs as of late, that starting today, I’m going to be of posting my movie of the week every Friday. This week…

My movie of the week: is Anchorman 2. Never would have thought this but the second instalment is even funnier than the first. The storyline gets a little out of whack at times but all in all, a good time from start to finish. Tons of really cool cameos, great styling and a really interesting critique on the state of television today. If you didn’t catch it in theatres, it’s now available on iTunes.

For today’s outfit, I’ve piled on some denim and paired it with some blue and white and some silver jewelry.

Be A Shark #DailyOutfit

I love anything to do with sharks! I’m obsessed with Shark Week, I love watching documentaries on sharks, I love learning about them and hope to one day be lucky enough to go on an expedition to swim with them. I have utmost respect for these creatures. Though a bit scary, sharks are so smart and have such distinct and interesting characteristics. So I was pretty stoked when OIA Jules created some pretty gold shark tooth inspired necklaces. I loved my big necklace so much, I recently got a miniature version of it as well. I wouldn’t say I would describe myself as being a “shark” but I do love the confidence these animals have. I think it’s ok to have shark-like confidence once in a while!!

Oscars Recap

20140302-095808.jpg

Tonight was the biggest night in film – the 2014 Academy Awards! I was really excited to follow the action this year having watched many of the nominated films. My favorites going into the evening were definitely Her, The Wolf Of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club. I’ve really renewed my love for films this year thanks to my other half @offner, who’s a major film buff.

I also love seeing all the stars dress up and look their best on the red carpet. I love seeing all the gowns and tuxes, seeing everyone’s hairstyles, nail art, etc. Happy to see a lot of color on the red carpet tonight including a whole lot of ivory for both men and women. Lot’s of nudes and metallics were also seen on women on the red carpet.

Ellen Degeneres was hosting again this year. I think she always does a decent job but always plays it really safe and I felt like this year, she seemed to be stalling or sometimes didn’t even know what to say when she was trying to improve. That said, I liked her sparkly navy suit.

My favorite moments of the night were without a doubt Jared Leto’s speech that kicked off the evening, was perfect and beautiful. Also, Lupita’s speech was very touching! Pink’s simple yet classy performance for the Wizard of Oz tribute was memorable. Also, that hilarious a-list selfie Ellen took was great!

Here are my 3 favorite dresses of the night:

Kate Hudson – words can’t describe how stunning she looked tonight in Versace. Wow! Absolute perfection!!

20140302-170647.jpg

Kristin Chenoweth – in beautiful gold Cavalli. Love the shape and texture of the gown!

20140302-160508.jpg

Camilla Alves – looked amazing in that pale pink dress. Looks so lovely with her ski tone.

20140302-165726.jpg

Honorable mentions also go to Olivia Wilde who looked amazing in her simple black Valentino dress (she probably woke up looking like that ;)) and also Portia de Rossi who’s ivory lace detailed dress looked amazing on her.

20140302-160742.jpg

20140302-160858.jpg

Also, I wanted to talk about the men who looked incredible tonight. Matthew McConaughey looked dashing in his ivory tux. I’m personally not a big Jared Leto fan (can’t stand his doughy attitude) but not only did he give a stellar performance in Dallas Buyers Club but he also looked amazing tonight. Loved that ivory tux, burgundy bow tie and those flowy locks.

20140302-162114.jpg

Also, maybe not the boldest tux choice but Joseph Gordon-Levitt looked hella handsome this evening.

20140302-174145.jpg

My least favorite outfits were definitely Pharrell Williams who was wearing shorts on the red carpet, so bizarre!! Plus his wife looked awkward in her tux.

20140302-164531.jpg

Also never a fan of Anne Hathaway unfortunately. I never understand her dress choices. It looks like she’s wearing some form of bubble wrap from far away. Not a big fan of her fashion choices or personal style.

20140302-171924.jpg

Like during many galas, there were a few wtf moments notably – Pharrell’s ridiculous hat making a comeback, Ellen passing out pizza – I mean funny on paper but ended up being a little weird in practice.

What were your favorite and least favorite moments of the night? Who’s gowns did you like and dislike? Let me know! Xo

American Eagle #DailyOutfit

This weekend I watched an amazing documentary on Netflix (between some House of Cards episodes!!) called “Spinning Plates“, which profiles three different restaurants in the US that are each so unique and different but who all get struck by tragedy. The doc reveals how meaningful food can be and how powerful it can be to bring people together. The documentary film has won several awards already and I can see why. A truly touching story, worth watching!

SPINNING-PLATES

Really excited to be going back to LA tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s already been several months since my last trip. It’s crazy how time flies! My upcoming trip can be summarized by the following words: Friends x Surfing x Food x Tattoos x Fashion. Wearing my American Eagle sweater from Topshop to celebrate today. Getting ready to go!!

Porté Disparu #DailyOutfit

After many months of waiting, today, Disiz finally released his brand new music video that my man @offner directed! If you don’t know who Disiz is, well he’s one of the biggest rappers in France. Not only does he have great beats but he also has super clever and intelligent rhymes. The video was shot in Spain and Canada in the spring of last year. Super excited that it’s finally out! Watch “Porté Disparu” here!

Golden Globes Style

Another fabulous night for fashion tonight at the Golden Globes! What did you think of the awards? Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hosts? The winners/Losers? Some thoughts regarding the gala: Jacqueline Bisset was awkward, sad Michael J. Fox didn’t win, maybe I should start watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine…

There were lot’s of fabulous gowns this evening, here are my top 3:

Zooey Deschanel – Loved all of beading and details on this dress. Love the vintage and romantic look. The color looks stunning on her as well! Wish she would have won tonight!

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Olivia Wilde – I mean wow! She looked absolutely stunning with her ombré hair, makeup and especially this sparkly green number! She looks like the most beautiful mermaid! Not many ladies can look that good, especially when pregnant!

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Elisabeth Moss – I love the pattern and texture of this dress. It’s original and fits her really nicely!

photo 3 (14)

Honorable mentions go to: Kate BlanchetAmy Adams (yay for redheads wearing red!) and Margot Robbie who also looked stunning!

Terrible mentions go to: Julia Roberts (who looked like she was going for a job interview), Zoe Saldana (too much going on!) and Sandra Bullock (I can’t even look at it!).

What were some of your favorite or least favorite dresses this evening? Favorite moments of the gala?

Green & Black Tribe #DailyOutfit

T – 14 days before my next adventure – France!!! Ah can’t wait! Still have 4 shows to shoot before I leave including our holiday special.

It’s been really cold in Toronto these past few stays so I’ve been staying sane by sipping lot’s of tea and also watching some surf flicks. Last night I watched the doc featuring Kelly Slater: The Ultimate Wave – Teahupoo. The film is really well shot and is not only beautiful to watch but also informational. After watching it, all I wanted to do was pack my bags and leave for Tahiti stat! Check out the trailer below:

Today’s outfit was centered around my the 10th Tribe beanie and some green and black items. My Modern Vice Camo Jetts go perfectly with this kind of moto and army themed ensemble. I love me some post-work reading.

Feeling Bohemian #DailyOutfit

What a nice and relaxing weekend I spent! So nice to be at home and not do much! My highlight of the weekend: visiting the new Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto. I’ll have a special post on the aquarium later this week!

I also saw the new Hunger Games flick, which was very likeable. I’ve always enjoyed the fashion and makeup in this series. They always outdo themselves! I also did a fun little purchase on the weekend: I bought a new suitcase! I know, super nerdy but I’ve been dying to get a more solid and better quality piece of luggage for all the travels that I do. I’m excited to bring it on its first trek to France! Yay!!

Feeling slightly bohemian today… I chose to dress in black with accents of beige. Taking back out some of my favorite boots from last season from Steve Madden. I’m also wearing my Topshop fedora, which really seems to be an eye catcher in the street. My boyfriend and I had fun this evening with his new 50mm lens while sipping on some yummy David’s Tea!!
