Tips on How to Stay Active while Traveling with Reebok

Staying active while on the road is easy. All it takes is just a little extra planning ahead and organization. Over the last little while I’ve come up with a simple formula and a few simple tips that can help you also keep moving while you’re on the go.

1) Whenever I know I have a trip coming up, I always make some time either the night before I leave or even at the airport the morning of (because we all know we spend lots of time doing nothing at the airport), to look up local running routes in advance that are close to where I’ll be traveling to and evening staying. I will then map out a few different runs or at least some key points of interests that I want to visit while I’m running and make a quick list on my phone. I sometimes even record the actual route itself on my phone via one of my running apps so that I am ready to go when I arrive.

2) I always pack my Reebok Floatride Run shoes with me so that I can easily take them out of my suitcase when I get to my hotel room or Airbnb. After a long flight or long day of travel, I’ll usually go for a run immediately when I get to my new destination. The Reebok Floatride Run shoe is cushioning without compromise, it is soft and also responsive, making me feel like I’m floating through my runs. The new shoe comes in new colour options and combines performance and aesthetic all into one.

3) I try to find unique local run clubs or even fitness studios to book some drop-in classes. I make sure to mark off some time in my schedule, even if it’s just 30 minutes to work out and also meet new people. Traveling gives you access to different workouts you may not even have at home as well as a whole new crew of people to meet, which is awesome!

4) If I don’t have the chance to make it out anywhere, I will use the environment around me; so either the gym in my hotel, my hotel room or even a nearby park to get a little workout or some drills in. It’s easy to just take your phone with you and either write down a few exercises or follow a video or an app.

5) If I know I’ll be traveling with friends or going to see family, I try to get them to take me out for a run or organize a little workout together. It makes it that much more of a fun experience for everyone and great memories to share while on the road.

Running and being active has become my first priority while traveling and as a result I’ve seen so many benefits in both my overall mood, stress levels and well-being while away from home. Therefore, I highly recommend giving these tips a try!

The Reebok Floatride Run shoe is available exclusively at Running Room and Reebok.ca.

Miami is one of my favorite places to travel to because of their amazing selection of hotels.

On my latest trip, I had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful hotel called Circa 39 situated in Mid-Beach and I couldn’t have found a more fitting place to stay.

The hotel’s motto is “Life is a trip, satisfy your wanderlust at Circa 39” and they are all about enriching your life through travel and wanting you to feel at home while you explore the world.

The entire hotel has an inviting yet also relaxing vibe, it’s one of those places where you want to spend a lot of time in. You don’t feel intimidated by the staff or the place, on the contrary, you immediately feel at home.

Renovated at the end of 2014, the hotel’s new decor reflects Miami’s multiculturalism and spirit, with vibrant colors, a mix of styles as well as vintage charm. The walls of the hotel are adorned with travel quotes, inspiring everyone at the hotel to keep exploring the world. This is a hotel that has tons of personality.

The room I had at Circa 39 reminded me of a tropical garden or island. It was airy and comfortable and provided me with all the things I might need during my stay. I had the most peaceful sleep while I was there. It was also a great place to watch the Oscars live from our room on their new flat screen TV. I particularly liked their custom orange robes, their free WiFi and free tea/coffee.

The hotel has a lot more than beautiful rooms to offer. Their garden is an ideal place to relax during the day. You can also opt for their large pool with comfortable chairs and also cozy nooks. They also have a small gym for those who can’t go without.

One of the things I most liked about staying at the hotel is being able to hang out in their lobby lounge and enjoy delicious drinks and snacks from Wunderbar. Their restaurant Jules Kitchen also offers a delicious breakfast buffet, that goes above and beyond almost every hotel breakfast that I’ve ever tasted.

The hotel couldn’t have been more conveniently located, just a block from the beach and close to some of the coolest bars and restaurants in the area. One of the perks of being a guest at the hotel is getting complimentary beach chairs and towels at the beach right in front of the hotel. Another perk of staying at Circa 39, is being able to sign up for a beautiful weekly Sunday morning yoga session in the garden of their sister property The Palms Hotel & Spa, located just a few blocks away.

Camo Friday #DailyOutfit

Yesterday I took the rad Chevy Cruze I’ve been test driving all week (stay tuned for a special blog post early next week!) to Skyzone Mississauga, an indoor trampoline park I’d been dying to try out for months. The lovely Hannah Georgas had filmed one of her latest music videos there. You can check it out below. I was extremely excited to bring out my inner kid for an hour and try all sorts of things. It’s great physical activity and lot’s of fun! I tried the foam pit, all the different trampolines, dodgeball and basketball. If ever you’re interested in checking it out, they have a few locations in the Toronto area, elsewhere in Canada and also in the US. It’s $14 for an hour and $2 for the special socks they make you wear. Looking forward to my next visit!

HAIM = Happiness

I’ve been listening to HAIM for quite some time now. My lovely friend from LA Suss first made me listen to them while I was out on the west coast for a visit some time ago.  Though I have yet to see them play live, I’ve watched many live sessions, concert videos, mini docs and have always been blown away by their energy, raw talent and rad style.  I have total respect for these three sisters from LA.  Today, I wanted to share with your their latest video for their track “Falling”.  The sisters have yet to release a full-length but have been buzzing all over the world since their latest EP came out. I think I listened to “Don’t Save Me” on repeat at least 100 times in the last couple of months.  Their music just makes me happy.  I sincerely hope it’ll have the same effect on you as well so this is why I’m sharing my love for HAIM with you all today!

Enjoy!

This Week’s Ear Candy

Happy Friday y’all! Here are my favorite tracks and videos of the week:

This week I fell in love this Little Daylight‘s brand new vid for “Overdose”.  I had never heard of the band before this week but now know they’ve remixed a bunch of tracks for Freelance Whales, Passion Pit, St. Lucia and others before.  Their track is currently at #1 on Hypemachine. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did… perfect for your weekend if you ask me 🙂

Another track I fell in love with this week is from Summer Heart called “Hit Me Up Again”.  David Alexander aka Summer Heart is from Sweden. I absolutely love his chill dream-pop vibes.  No upcoming tour dates on his site but I’m sure he’d be a great act to see live. Here’s his trippy/dreamy video for his new single:

Finally, this morning, one of my favorite Canadian artists Cadence Weapon released a brand new video for his stellar track “Hype Man”.  Cadence’s latest record Hope In Dirt City was one of my top picks at this year’s Polaris Prize. I think he’s an extremely talented rapper and artist; he has something original and intelligent to contribute to the music scene. I also love his sense of humor.   I recently had the chance to chat with him for my show BRBR, what a cool guy!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Jewelry crush

Happy Tuesday!

Lately I’ve been crushing real hard on two up and coming designers from the US.

THE 2 BANDITS

The first designer I have a crush on is Tamar Wider, known for her The 2 Bandits collection. Originally from Texas, the young designer grew up in a family who owned a diamond wholesaling business.  After moving from Texas, spent some time in NYC  where The 2 Bandits was created before moving to San Francisco, where she currently resides.  I love her jewels for their unique and creative style, I love the southwestern influence and her mix of stones and metals. They are not only rustic and edgy but also really elegant.  There’s nothing quite like it anywhere in Toronto or Canada.  Here are some of my favorite pieces from her collection, some of which I own already and can’t live without:

There are currently a few bundles on her site, perfect for the holidays. I definitely recommend checking her out!

VERAMEAT

The second designer I’ve been crushing on is a NY-based designer called Vera Balyura, otherwise known as VERAMEAT.  All of her jewelry is handcrafted from ecologically sound recycled sterling silver, brass and pure 14k gold. There are several Verameat stores in NYC and Brooklyn and she opened a brand new store in LA just last week.  I love her mix of animals, hearts, vampires, monsters, etc. I love VERAMEAT because her team is super social-media savy. They know how to really create a closeness with their customers, which is fantastic! Here are some of my favs from her collection, some of which I own already and also can’t live without:

http://www.verameat.com/collections/new/products/hearts-aflutter

http://www.verameat.com/collections/monster/products/pegacorn-unicorn-pegasus

Definitely make sure you drop by one of her stores if you’re in the area… If you live in Toronto, the rad store Jacflash, located on Queen Street West also carries some of her jewelry.

That’s it for today’s blog! I leave you with a little holiday video from one of my favs, Hey Rosetta! who recently released their holiday EP A Cup Of Kindness Yet.

Have a wonderful week!

This Week’s Ear Candy

Happy Friday!

Apologies for the lack of posts last week, my life has been a whirlwind to say the least. But I’m back on track now!! Here’s this week’s ear candy:

This week I fell in love with Elisapie‘s first English track, which will be released on her first English record coming out October 30th.  I wasn’t really a fan of what she had done in the past but this synth-pop track goes perfectly with her voice! Listen to “The Love You Gave” here:

http://soundcloud.com/webstermc/elisapie-the-love-you-gave

For the past two days, I’ve been listening and watching Trust‘s new video for “Dressed For Space”. I love the 80s inspired vid and dance. Perfect track to get ready before going out! You can watch the video here:

Here’s hoping the band will be doing more North American tour dates in the near future. Their debut record released earlier this year, has been one of my favs!

This week, I also fell in love with Get People‘s new track called “Cupid’s Curse”… sometimes I wonder if cupid really does have a curse! You can actually download the track for free on their facebook page.  Looking forward to hearing more from this London quartet!

http://soundcloud.com/getpeople/cupids-curse

I found a lovely new video from Ireland’s MMOTHS this week for their track “Over You”:

The track is part of the AMP 2012 compilation, which you can get right here: http://www.anniemacpresents.com/

We’ve all heard of the Toronto punk band Fucked Up, but it was the first time I had heard of their guitarist Ben Cook’s side project called Yatch Club.  I immediately fell in love with it! They released a brand new 80s inspired video for their awesome track “Flash” earlier this week.  I’ve also been playing it on repeat all week long.  Apparently, they’ll be doing a show on an actual Yatch in Toronto next week… so if you don’t have any plans, I think it’d make for a great outing!  You can watch the video here:

That’s it for this week! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Peace.
