Show You #GiveACare With Rethink

Breast Cancer is a cause that is dear to my heart. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and I have unfortunately seen too many people in my life lose their battle to breast cancer.

The amazing organization Rethink Breast Cancer is doing something special for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) again this year. In addition to their famous Boobyball, they are partnering up with several notable companies across Toronto to raise awareness for the cause and also to raise funds that go towards helping and educating young people concerned and affected by breast cancer.

This year, Rethink Breast Cancer launched their very own Give-A-Care collection, a fun collection of branded apparel and chic accessories. For each item sold, 100% of the money will be donated to Rethink. In addition to this collection, they’ve partnered up with retailers such as Ardene, H&M, Peace Collective, Aerie, etc. who will be donating a portion of the sales of certain items (like the ones below!) to Rethink during the month of October.

Pinch me! I can’t believe it’s already October! Things I love about October: the leaves changing colours, the crisp smell of fall, being able to wear pants again, bringing my collection of teas back out, etc! Another thing about October is that it’s BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month. Breast cancer is a cause that touches me directly, my mother is a breast cancer survivor. Unfortunately, a lot of her friends who were also diagnosed around the same time as her, have passed away. We’ve come such a long way in regards to treatment but we still have so much further to go. There are so many great initiatives and campaigns out there to raise funds for breast cancer. I particularly liked this unique campaign I saw today by Surfline x Mauli Ola Foundation called “Battle For The Breasts”, which gets you to vote for your favorite women surfers. You can check it out here. For more information on Breast Cancer Awareness month, you can check out the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or your local Breast Cancer organization.

Enjoying the last few days of warm weather this year to wear my shorts a couple more times. Wearing a long sleeve shirt today just to make the outfit a little warmer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As most of you know already, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is a cause that is dear to my heart because my mother is a heroic breast cancer survivor. I watched her fight against this terrible disease just before I entered university, what a hard battle she fought. But today, I’m happy to announce my mother has been cancer free for several years! However, many of her close friends were not as lucky as she was. What was key in her survival was early detection!

During the month, lot’s of organizations, associations, designers, celebrities will be doing special fundraising initiatives for breast cancer. Here are a few that I’ve heard of:

Rethink-Breast-Cancer1

Rethink Breast Cancer is doing #BattlePink, the organization has chosen Canadian influencers (bloggers, writers, artists) to put their unique stamp on PINK products. To vote for your favorite go here.

Breast-Cancer-Society-of-Canada

The Breast Cancer Society of Canada is doing a Dress For The Cause day taking place on October 16th. Anyone across the country can participate, men, women, your entire office, etc. For more info and to see their funny instructional video, go here.

Also, one of my talented friends, the LA-based designer OIA Jules, will be donating 20% of her PINK Bracelet sales to the Breast Cancer Resarch Foundation.  You can purchase her lovely bracelet pictured below here.

These are just some of the MANY initiatives happening this month. To find more, I suggest doing a quick research on the web or even twitter/instagram. All the money raised this month will be a tremendous help!
