Though the ocean is definitely my element, I recently found a kinship with the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Maybe it’s because I found a place who’s colors matches my fiery mane… 😉 The one thing that’s for sure, is that the day I spent at Valley of Fire, was one of the best days of my life. Seeing 4000 year-old petroglyphs, 150 million-year-old petrified logs are just some of the things that make this place so amazing! If you have yet to give this place a visit, you’ll want to make the drive out there next time your in Vegas!
Take me to the highest level. As the end of 2014 draws near, I reflect on this past year and all of the amazing things that have happened and what I can do to make 2015 even more stellar. I feel that as humans, we always desire to take things to the next level, escalate… I think it’s almost engrained in us to become better at everything, make more money, obtain a better job, etc. Though there are many things I want to improve (including this very blog!!), I think one of my resolutions for the new year will be to take things to the next level but in the most human kind of way. I want to keeping growing as a person and keep working on becoming the best person that I can be. I want to surround myself with people that are positive so that together we can take life to the next level!
Last night I took part in my first ever Canadian Videogame Awards at the Carlu in Toronto. The event celebrated the best videogames made in Canada in 2013 and 2014. This was my first time being part of an event of such caliber in the video game industry. Mark Meer (as seen rehearing above yesterday afternoon), the voice behind the incredibly popular Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect games hosted the event. Hundreds of game designers, animators, game studios, actors, etc. filled the room as well as members of the general public. The event was also livestreamed on TWITCHand over 110 000 people watched.
I spent the night working on an exclusive behind the scenes doc for the CVAs that will be coming out in just a few days! The three things I learned from being at the CVAs last night: 1) a lot more video games than we think are actually made in Canada 2) Ubisoft wins pretty much every prize 3) people in the gaming industry are a lot friendlier than in a lot of other industries! 😀
Took a beautiful stroll on the waterfront in Toronto this evening after work. I love having time to walk around and explore my city without having a particular goal in mind. I love breathing in the cool and crisp fall air. The walk was very welcome after a busy day at work!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an outfit on the blog. Fall is just around the corner, so it’s time to whip out my pants again. Though I’m still completely in denial, I’m excited to start layering again, wearing cool coats and vests and rocking some of the new items I recently got for my fall wardrobe. For the second time this season, I’ve completely cleaned out my closet. It’s a scary thing to empty out the closet but my rule is – if I haven’t worn an item in over six months, maybe it’s time I give it to someone who might. I hate clutter and so it’s a good cleansing experience to do a closet cleanup! I’m excited to be adding new pieces to my wardrobe, pieces that I feel reflect more my mood and vibe these days, which I’ve noticed is a lot more minimalist than it used to be. Maybe it’s just a phase I’m going through but as of late, I’ve been wearing a lot less jewelry (but always stick to some daily favs – Stella & Dot bar necklace, COMMUNION By Joy ring, Etsy wave necklace) and a lot less color and prints. I’ve been keeping my outfits to neutrals mostly. I know the season change has a lot to do with it! One thing’s for sure, I was really inspired by all the shows at NYFW last week. In case you missed it, I created a special Pinterest board with some of my favorite runway looks. Check it out here. What are you most excited about for fall?
Finally back from my vacation, which means back to blogging! Hope you’ve been keeping well these past two weeks. Can’t wait to share with you all my latest travel adventures. New travel blogs coming soon!
In the meantime, I’m excited to share photos from this beachwear photo shoot I did while I was in Encinitas with a super talented and nice photographer from the San Diego area called Nathan Petty. I’ve been following Nathan’s photography via his Instagram account (that you can follow here) for the last couple of months and had loved all of the surfing action shots and portraits he had been posting. We did a 3-part shoot on and around the beach. Here are pics from the first part of our shoot together. The second part will be coming tomorrow!
Reminiscing today about the amazing time I had in Capri back in June! This captain hat was the perfect thing to bring back from our wonderful stay there. My favorite thing we did while we were in Capri was hands down renting a boat and exploring the island. So much fun!! If you’re planning on traveling to Capri in the near future, make sure you check out my Capri travel blog here.
Been on the road this past week for work in Quebec City. While I was there, I got to see some amazing shows including Tegan and Sara (hello dreamy sunset!), Serena Ryder, Mozart’s Sister and Phantogram (best show I’ve seen this year, hands down!! In case you haven’t checked it out yet, go read my 5 Questions With: Sarah Barthel of Phantogramhere). Happy to be home for a few days before heading to NYC!
