Green & Black Tribe #DailyOutfit

T – 14 days before my next adventure – France!!! Ah can’t wait! Still have 4 shows to shoot before I leave including our holiday special.

It’s been really cold in Toronto these past few stays so I’ve been staying sane by sipping lot’s of tea and also watching some surf flicks. Last night I watched the doc featuring Kelly Slater: The Ultimate Wave – Teahupoo. The film is really well shot and is not only beautiful to watch but also informational. After watching it, all I wanted to do was pack my bags and leave for Tahiti stat! Check out the trailer below:

Today’s outfit was centered around my the 10th Tribe beanie and some green and black items. My Modern Vice Camo Jetts go perfectly with this kind of moto and army themed ensemble. I love me some post-work reading.

Happy Halloween! #DailyOutfit

Happy Halloween everyone! Who are you dressing up as this year? Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays! As a kid, my grand-ma made all of my costumes and I would take part in the local costume contest in my hometown. It was always so much fun not only dressing up but also trick or treating around my village and seeing all the haunted houses and decorations. When I grew older, I loved giving out candy to the kids on my street and making the house as scary as I could!

Sadly, for the first time ever I won’t be dressing up this year since I’m on a shoot for work. That said, I had a very memorable Halloween last year. I got to dress up as a pre-douche zombie Justin Bieber. I remember looking at myself in the mirror after getting 2hrs of makeup done and not even recognizing myself!! It was the best time!

So for today’s outfit, instead of a costume, I opted for a full black get up instead!

Best tweet read this morning: “Wow, I love Mondays. Said no one ever.” This couldn’t be truer! Mondays are always so hard, no matter where you work! I think the cold weather is also making me want to hibernate even more.

I’m staying motivated knowing that I have an amazing trip coming up in just over a month. In December, I get to go back to France for over two and a half weeks. I’ve always loved going to France and seeing my family but now my trips are even more special since I have a French boyfriend. On this upcoming trip, we’ll be going to Paris, Bretagne, Lyon and Les 2 Alpes. Can’t wait to celebrate the holidays over there! So exciting!! I will be blogging about our trip while we’re there and upon my return. Stay tuned!

I also can’t wait to go shopping in Paris again. Any new shop recommendations? Looking forward to adding unique Parisian pieces to closet again this year. The long sleeve shirt I’m wearing today, is one I got on the Champs Élysées last year. I love the faux leather shoulder pads!

Friday Flowers #DailyOutfit

Last night I attended my first ever Toronto Cocktail Week bartender HogtownShakedown competition at the Drake Hotel. I’m by no means a drink expert so it was a really interesting to see five super talented bartenders from the city make some custom drinks for a panel of judges and explain to everyone the story, ingredients and idea behind each drink. Bartending can be so creative and is definitely an art form. I was rooting for Josh F Lindley, my friend Jessica Blaine Smith‘s man and bartender at Bar Isabel. Though he didn’t end up winning, he definitely had the best stories, best glasses and is a fantastic barman. Worth checking out next year!

Plans for the weekend? It’s supposed to be a rainy one here in Toronto, so I bet I’ll be spending lot’s of time reading and catching up on Netflix and the latest movies.

Rocking the knee-high socks again today with a dress! Not only are they stylish but they also keep my legs warm 😉

Post-Polaris #DailyOutfit

Just got back from NYC yesterday, after an amazing long weekend trip! Make sure to check my blog in the next couple of days to see a little recap on my trip featuring some of my favorite spots of the weekend! We tried some amazing new restaurants that I’m excited to share with you all!

Yesterday, I flew back to Toronto early in the morning because I had the honor of presenting a band at the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. I wasn’t able to divulge until yesterday that I was chosen to be one of this year’s presenters alongside Sarah McLachlan, Sebastien Grainger, George Stroumboulopoulos, Martin Gero, just to name a few. So humbled by the fact that I was presenting with these inspiring folks.

I was chosen to present Young Galaxy, whom I absolutely love. Their latest record Ultramarine is a real gem. They were my top pick on this year’s ballot. I was so nervous but so humbled by the whole experience. Thanks to the band for being so inspiring as well as Steven Jordan & Claire Dagenais for all of their amazing work.

You can re-watch the gala in its entirety thanks to AUX TV here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3sUG8RfkKA

For today’s outfit, I decided to wear my new Topshop threads that I bought in NYC this weekend. I’ve never been one to wear hats but out of curiosity while browsing around the big Topshop store on Broadway, I saw a cool looking hat and decided to try it out. To my surprise, I didn’t feel as ridiculous as I thought I would feel wearing it. So I bought it 🙂 Plus, I bought this fun snakeskin dress. I also had to stop by my favorite little boutique in Williamsburg to get a new Verameat buddy. I got a new gold Brachiosaurus pendant. Nerd alert 😉

Sicky look #DailyOutfit

I thought I could fight it but apparently my immune system wasn’t strong enough. I officially have a cold! As per usual it’s the worst timing ever with a cooking shoot today, my upcoming trip to NYC tomorrow, the Polaris Prize on Monday, show shoot on Tuesday, etc. But as my mom always said when I was a kid – the show must go on!

So for today’s outfit, I really opted for comfort and warmth! I’m wearing some of my favorite Anine Bing pieces and a super soft leopard shirt.

Post-grunge #DailyOutfit

2nd day at work after vacation… still getting back into the groove!

While I was in LA last week, I had the priviledge of stopping by the Anine Bing showroom. Anine has been part of the Scandinavian fashion industry since she was 15. She first started off as an international model that travelled around the world. After a short stint as a frontwoman for a band she eventually started designing clothes. She’s always created pieces that she’s really wanted in her own wadrobe and nothing else. As she explains on her site “the label is naturally tailored towards city girls, who travel the world, who are fashion forward and who are passionate about art and music and want to “wear their lifestyle” day and night.” Sounded like a perfect fit for me!

photo 1

Though I wanted to get absolutely every piece in the shoowroom, I had to limit myself to only a few of my favorites. While trying on her clothes, I realized how perfectly they all fit and how elegant yet super comfortable they all were. From the tees to the leather jacket, sweatshirt, jeans and boots! Everything is super high quality and definitely seems long-lasting.

I also had the priviledge of meeting the lovely lady herself, who had just wrapped up a meeting. She was super sweet and gracious! She looked absolutely stunning! Can’t believe she just had a baby! Can’t wait to go back to the showroom next time I’m in the area!!

So for today’s outfit, I’m wearing my stellar new Silver Stud Anine Bing boots. They are absolutely fabulous!! I’m also wearing my rad new lace detail Forever 21 dress and pink plaid flannel shirt from Urban Outfitters that the super sweet Offner got for me while in LA. Feeling a little post-grunge in this outfit… So I’ve been listening to some of my post-grunge favorites since I got to work. Anyone remember this song? What is your favorite post-grunge track or band?

Black & Blue #DailyOutfit

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I spent my Saturday in Wasaga Beach with friends. Though not a fan of Wasaga’s jersey shore type vibe, it’s always fun to spend a day with your toes in the sand and swimming in a beautiful lake. The waves were so big this weekend, it almost felt like I was swimming in the ocean… almost! I also did two of my favorite things yesterday: had a yummy brunch at The Federal and did a BBQ with friends! Grateful for such a fantastic weekend!

For today’s outfit, I’m wearing a cute little dress I found last summer in Vermont. I love the silky feel to it and it’s fun print. Today’s arm candy is a mix of black and gold.

T-1 week #DailyOutfit

In exactly one week from today, I’ll be back in California!!!!! Can’t wait to be back in my second home. This trip will be stellar! Surfing, beach hangs, hiking, seeing friends, going to shows, celebrating my birthday, eating yummy food, etc. I’m beyond stoked!!

Yesterday, I attempted my first haircut. Eek! I grew up in a family who’s grandfather, uncle and cousin were all hairdressers but apparently, it’s not something that I caught on to. My boyfriend was brave enough to let me chop some of his beautiful locks off.  I don’t think I did that horribly (well…) but it was definitely one of the most nerve-wracking things I’ve done in a while! :p

Today’s a muggy day out in Toronto. For my Daily Outfit, I wore my favorite accessory color combination: Black and Gold! I also decided to take out some really old booties from the closet this morning. I think I got them while I was still living in Montreal… It’s always fun to switch it up sometimes 🙂

Flower Power #DailyOutfit

What a gorgeous day it is in Toronto! Perfect day for a little bike ride to work and to enjoy the sun! Really looking forward to the long weekend!!

I guess I was feeling the effects of the sun this morning when I got dressed. Bright colors and neon flowers is what I opted for. I’ve done it before but I really like matching my neon floral shirt with my mint green skinnies!

Sometimes, I look back at my daily outfit posts and can really tell what mood I was in, just based on how girly or how rock n’ roll my outfits were… What does my outfit say about my mood today?!
