Hope all you Canadian friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
Later this week, Biko Jewellery will be holding a sample sale in her studio in Toronto. If you’re around, come on by! Items start as low as $5! See the flyer below for more info. Hope to see you there!
I’ve been seeing a lot of zebra print in lookbooks, on pinterest and in celebrity style pages lately. So I was super stoked when Offner came home with a pair of Zebra slacks for me the other day. I love these H&M trousers because they’re the perfect amount of stretch and comfort. I find they look rad with my Anine Bing boots & Vanessa Mooney necklace.
I had the pleasure of seeing Biko Jewellery creator and all-around amazing lady Corrine Anestopoulos this week. I stopped by her studio to check out items from her upcoming SS14 collection (the pieces are stunning! See Biko’s instagram photo below) and also get a few pieces from her most recent collection FW13 Dark Star. Over the last couple of months, things have really kicked off for Corrine’s designs in the US. Her jewellery was in Seventeen Magazine, InStyle, Glamour Mag, etc. The dreamy fashion boutique Free People is also now carrying her creations and she has been traveling to the US constantly. It’s always so nice to see local designers achieve national, international and worldwide success. I couldn’t be more excited for her! Next week, she’ll be holding a sample sale at her studio. Follow her on twitter – @BikoJewellery to get all the deets. Can’t wait!
It’s only fitting that I’m wearing pieces from her new collection for today’s outfit. Love the Mira Necklace and these new dainty rings. Thanks Corrine!!

Yesterday, I received a lovely package from one of my favorite jewelry designers from LA called Vanessa Mooney. For the last couple of years, I’ve been following her evolution in the world of fashion. To me, her jewelry designs represent a strong free-spirited woman and totally embodies the Californian essence. I’ve always loved all of her lookbooks and ad campaigns, I love how the women are portrayed, the styling and the locations she chooses to shoot them in. Vanessa is a self-taught designer who does everything by hand in her Los Angeles studio. She recently acquired quite a celebrity following, stars such as Jessica Alba, Hilary Duff, Megan Fox and Emma Roberts have all been seen with her jewels. I totally see myself as a “Vanessa Mooney” kind of girl. Though I have yet to meet this wonderful designer, I’m beyond proud to be able to rock some of her items here in Canada. I’m over the moon with my new jewels!
Really looking forward to stopping by Biko Jewellery‘s studio this evening after work to check out pieces from her new collection. Corrine is such a creative and talented jewellery designer, she always has the coolest ideas for new pieces. Excited to see what she’s been working on. I know she’s been getting lot’s of success in the US lately so I can’t wait to hear all about it! You can check out her latest lookbook for her FW13 “Dark Star” collection here: http://vimeo.com/72155489
Bringing out the knits today! I’ve never really thought of wearing knits at work, I usually wear sweaters on vacation, when I’m at home or after doing sports but am giving it a shot today! I tried to dress it up a bit with skinnys, my Anine Bing boots and a few Biko Jewellery accessories. It sure is comfy 😉
Yesterday I found out the best news ever: I have enough Air Miles for more than one round trip across North/South America or Europe! WHAT?! Having not checked my Air Miles balance in years, I was surprised to see just how many I had accumulated over the last little while. I couldn’t be more thrilled. As someone with serious wanderlust, that always wants to travel, this was the best news ever. If you had enough Air Miles to go anywhere in Europe or North/South America, where would you go?
As temperatures drop closer and closer to zero, I figured it was the appropriate time to whip back out my favorite faux-leather pants!
Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I went to the movies on Friday night to see the brand new Sandra Bullock and George Clooney flick Gravity in 3D. If you’re a big space, NASA or astronaut nerd, this will definitely be up your alley. It’s 90mins of beautiful images, action and a pretty decent storyline. George Clooney is effortlessly cool and funny and though isn’t present much throughout the film, his comic relief easily welcome. Not my favorite movie as of late, but worth watching!
I also checked out the new Cibo Wine Bar that just opened up two months ago on King Street West. I’ll have a full review of the restaurant for you later this week!
Today’s outfit makes me feel like a chick… I mean one of these! I kept the accessories to a minimum opting for a badass shark tooth statement necklace from OIA Jules!
Last night I attended my first ever Toronto Cocktail Week bartender HogtownShakedown competition at the Drake Hotel. I’m by no means a drink expert so it was a really interesting to see five super talented bartenders from the city make some custom drinks for a panel of judges and explain to everyone the story, ingredients and idea behind each drink. Bartending can be so creative and is definitely an art form. I was rooting for Josh F Lindley, my friend Jessica Blaine Smith‘s man and bartender at Bar Isabel. Though he didn’t end up winning, he definitely had the best stories, best glasses and is a fantastic barman. Worth checking out next year!
Plans for the weekend? It’s supposed to be a rainy one here in Toronto, so I bet I’ll be spending lot’s of time reading and catching up on Netflix and the latest movies.
Rocking the knee-high socks again today with a dress! Not only are they stylish but they also keep my legs warm 😉
Last night I watched the new animation movie from Dreamworks, The Croods. I always love checking out the latest animated flicks to see the advancements in technology and the beautiful colorful worlds they’ve created. These movies are always super cute and funny. I had really enjoyed Pixar’s Brave last year so was looking forward to seeing The Croods. Voiced by Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds, The Croods is set in the prehistoric era of Pliocene. When The Croods’ family cave is destroyed by the changing world, the family is forced to travel through unfamiliar territory into an enchanting world lead by an inventive and more evolved boy named Guy (Ryan Reynolds). The images and creatures in The Croods’ fantastical world are SO creative and colorful! This movie is so pleasing to the eye and soul. I highly recommend watching it!
So for today’s outfit, I’m rocking a modern Crood look! I had forgotten about this Zara dress that I got two years ago. Perfect for fall! Looking forward to the Sam Edelman event happening tonight at the Bay on Queen Street. Not only can you meet this amazing shoe designer but you could also win a full shoe wardrobe! Event details here.

Happy Friday everyone! So stoked on finally being home for the weekend! What are your plans for the weekend? Everyone’s talking about the Breaking Bad finale, I’m looking forward to the Homeland season 3 premier. Also thinking of hitting up a movie theatre this weekend, it’s been a while since I’ve gone to see a new release. Thinking of Don Jon or maybe Prisoners, have you seen either?
I think I officially have an obsession with plaid! Last weekend while in NYC, I bought another plaid item for my fall wardrobe. I saw this super cute plaid bomber jacket at Zara. I always find different items when I travel to the US or Europe Zara. Since I knew they probably didn’t have it back home, I had to get it! It’s perfect for layering under my leather jacket. I mixed that with my red fabric wedge boots from Zara that I got in the spring. I like adding pops of color with the basic black.
Yesterday we received our first ever Fresh City Farms vegetable and fruit bag, from local organic farmers in Ontario. I can’t believe I didn’t think of doing this before. For $30 a week, they deliver right to your doorstep a bag filled with seasonal fruits and veggies. You can also add a bunch of extras to your bag: cheese, honey, fresh bread, etc. They also give you some sample recipes every week, recipes for the fruits and veggies in your bag. What’s great about getting a different bag each week is that it forces you to not only eat healthy but also helps you be more creative with the food you make. Plus, being someone who eats a lot of fruits and veggies every day, I find that this makes it a lot cheaper.
So last night, I used some of the veggies we had received to make my first ever homemade pottage. It really didn’t take long! I basically just boiled a bunch of veggies from the bag (leek, brocoli, mushrooms, tomatos, garlic), added a few spices, a bit of oil and olive juice, a touch of almond milk and blended everything up. Voilà! Perfect for the fall!
It’s now pant weather again! Feels good to take out some of my favs from last season. Seems like I’m not the only one who’s stoked about fall fashion. One of the things I’m most excited about this season, are all the rad jackets that are coming out. Here are some of my favorite jackets for the fall… Wish I could get them all! AHH they are so heavenly!!
