What a beautiful day in Toronto today! A perfect day to wear some yellow if you ask me! Yesterday I received my brand new custom Modern Vice boots! I’m so excited about these two new pairs. I especially love the custom handmade Oxblood Dove Bootie! Can’t wait to show you the looks I put together in the next couple of days!!
Happy Easter weekend everyone!! Whether you’re with the family, traveling abroad or simply just hanging at home, I hope it’s a relaxing and beautiful weekend! I’m excited to have a laid back weekend at home, probably the last in a while so I’m going to enjoy it to the fullest!
Celebrating this weekend with some easter white. Can’t get enough of these white denim trousers from Zara. Best purchase I made a few seasons ago, because they still look brand new and can be worn all year round! Also can’t wait for my new custom Modern Vice boots to get here from NYC. Might be getting them next week, can’t wait to show you all!!
Last month, I was able to spend a few days in my favorite place on earth – Southern California. It’s always so lovely seeing all of my friends, discovering new places to eat and shop as well as spending time surfing at the beach. Didn’t do too much shopping on this past trip, so the following post will be more of a #foodporn post. Like I did with my last travel post (see here), here are some of my new favorite things about SoCal.
1 – Ace Hotel – When I went last month, the hotel had opened a few weeks prior. The Ace Hotel is a small chain of hotels, they can be found in New York City, Palm Springs, Portland and most recently Los Angeles. It is located in the historic United Artists building in downtown LA. I had the pleasure of going to their new bistro LA Chapter. Not only were the food and drinks incredibly tasty, the atmosphere was very chic yet also laid back and also we had the funniest waiter. The menu was original and fairly priced. After dinner, I took a tour of the hotel. I loved all the books and music in the lobby, everything about the building was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend checking out the hotel, if not for a stay then for a brunch, lunch or dinner. You can make reservations easily via Open Table.
2 – Urth Caffé – Alright, this place isn’t a new place but it’s become a staple when I’m in Los Angeles. I purposely plan my day around the different Urth locations in and around Los Angeles. Honestly, the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. It opens super early in the morning and stays open until late at night. Some of my Urth favs: Almond Milk Green Tea Latte, the Urth Salad, any of their croissants, the Coconut Pound Cake and their homemade granola. My mouth waters, as I write this post. I think I’ve developed an addiction to Urth Caffé!!
3 – Veggie Grill– Is a chain of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free restaurants that serve food cafeteria style. I knew one of their latest locations had just opened up in Carlsbad, so I took the opportunity to pay them a visit. They have a very extensive menu, great homemade drinks and pride themselves in only serving healthy food that is good for the mind and body. I ordered the Crispy Chickin’ Plate as well as a side order of their Mac N’ Cheese. Both plates were very filling and all tasted pretty good. You can get a good meal for under $15. My favorite was their cauli mashed potatoes!
4 – Los Feliz – Is a new area I got to explore on this past trip located just west of Hollywood. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with lot’s of pretty homes as well as a little “downtown” area located on Vermont Street with plenty of super cute shops, bookstores and yummy restaurants. I checked out the French bistro Le Figaro for brunch. They offered all the best typical French specialties and also had a counter section, where you could buy baked goods and desserts to go. I wish I could have spent more time in the area, it’s definitely on my list of places to go back to on my next visit.
5 – Laurel Hardware – Is a trendy relatively new restaurant and bar located on Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. I met up with friends there for dinner one night. There are two rooms and an incredibly big patio at the back. The first room is quieter and has a more “dinning room” vibe where as the back room has a lot more of a “bar” feel to it. Lot’s of local models, musicians and young entrepreneurs have been seen flocking to this place. The night I went, the place was definitely filled with lot’s of young and beautiful people. Small but solid food and drink menu. The menu contained lot’s of sharing plates including many vegetarian options. I loved their open kitchen concept as well as the fresh flowers and candles that were on each table.
All in all, another incredibly memorable trip with tons of new discoveries!
Spent a fun evening at Spinlast night, Toronto’s hip ping pong club with the Fresita Canada (Chilian sparkling wine with fresh strawberries?! Yum!) crew for their A Little Lux girls night. I was lucky to be joined by two of my best gals for the eve. To recap the evening in three words: Ping Pong x Wine x Girlfriends!
HAILO graciously shuttled everyone to and from the event. Though I had downloaded the app a while ago and heard lot’s about HAILO, it was my first time actually using their cab service. Honestly, I was so impressed by the system! Not only did my cab to and from the event come pick me up within 1 minute, it’s also hassle-free! Since everything automatically passes through your credit card, there’s no printing out receipts, faulty interact machines, angry cab drivers, change, any of that stuff. A receipt from your trip gets emailed right to you within minutes of your trip. Really impressed with this system!
I was really excited to be back at Spin. I shot one of my shows there last year and have also had the opportunity to visit some of their other locations such as their first club in NYC as well as their club at the Standard Hotel in downtown LA.
Fresita welcomed my girlfriends and I with a bunch of yummy snacks (hello cheese!) and drinks. We got a bit of time to warm up before the night’s event.
During the night, they were holding a ping pong round the table tournament. I had participated in it before in NYC but had never gotten really far. Playing ping pong always brings me back to my childhood. As a kid, I played ping pong after family dinners almost every weekend at my grandma’s house. She had bought a new ping pong table in her basement for our enjoyment. Though my ping pong skills are less than acceptable, playing is always a good time!
I got a bit of practice time in at the beginning of the evening but I don’t think I’ll be taking up a career in ping pong any time soon! I was terrible at the round the table. That said, with great tunes, a little wine and some of my best gals, it was hard not to have a great time!
Thanks to everyone for having us! I’ll be back soon!!
Pink is a hot color this season! Though I don’t have a pale pink jacket to strut around in, I definitely have a few pink garments and accessories that I like to wear once in a while. Like most girls, I loved pink as a child but haven’t been wearing much pink in the last few years. I like that the clothes I’m wearing today are a variation of pink! Are you someone that wears a lot of pink?
Finally, after probably one of the busiests weeks of my life, I’m back home!! It was really lovely to some my family while I was in Montreal as well as some old friends but as I’ve said before, there’s nothing quite like sleeping in your own bed!! I did however make good use of my hotel’s gym and lot’s of room service while I was away… It made the week go by faster!
Only 3 weeks before our departure for France, so thrilled! I’m really looking forward to being home for those three weeks before I leave again for a month. I’m going to take that time to make lot’s of homemade meals, write Christmas cards, enjoy our newly decorated apartment, lakefront runs and catching up with friends! What is it you love doing most after coming home from a trip?
Kept it pretty basic for today’s outfit. Stripes, super comfy & soft TOPSHOP skinnies and some spiked boots.
Yesterday we received our first ever Fresh City Farms vegetable and fruit bag, from local organic farmers in Ontario. I can’t believe I didn’t think of doing this before. For $30 a week, they deliver right to your doorstep a bag filled with seasonal fruits and veggies. You can also add a bunch of extras to your bag: cheese, honey, fresh bread, etc. They also give you some sample recipes every week, recipes for the fruits and veggies in your bag. What’s great about getting a different bag each week is that it forces you to not only eat healthy but also helps you be more creative with the food you make. Plus, being someone who eats a lot of fruits and veggies every day, I find that this makes it a lot cheaper.
So last night, I used some of the veggies we had received to make my first ever homemade pottage. It really didn’t take long! I basically just boiled a bunch of veggies from the bag (leek, brocoli, mushrooms, tomatos, garlic), added a few spices, a bit of oil and olive juice, a touch of almond milk and blended everything up. Voilà! Perfect for the fall!
It’s now pant weather again! Feels good to take out some of my favs from last season. Seems like I’m not the only one who’s stoked about fall fashion. One of the things I’m most excited about this season, are all the rad jackets that are coming out. Here are some of my favorite jackets for the fall… Wish I could get them all! AHH they are so heavenly!!
1) MLLE Mademoiselle Rumi Leopard Biker Jacket (get it here)
2) VEDA x Pamela Love special collaboration (get it here)
I’m stoked to finally be seeing a movie at TIFF tonight! I will be seeing Wasted Youth, an international film from Greece. It will unfortunately be the only movie I’ll get to see at this year’s festival due to my hectic schedule but this year’s line-up was absolutely stellar! Have you seen anything cool at the TIFF this year?
Yesterday, the season 2 premier of BRBR aired. This year, we’ve got a brand new studio, series and website! In case you missed it or like Canadian music and want to discover new talent, have a look below 🙂
I’m really honored to be featured on Lisa Ng’ rad new lifestyle blog for women called This Beautiful Day. Lisa is such an inspiring lady! She recently moved from Toronto to LA to continue her career there. You can check out the article here!
Keeping the “nouveau” grunge look going today, with a plaid skirt and my new Zara graphic tee! I attended a private school for a year and remember dreading wearing my plaid skirt uniform but a few years later, I kinda love it! This grunge trend is definitely growing on me a lot… I guess it’s only normal being a 90s kid 😉
