I decided to do a men’s outfit special on the blog this week! Putting my outfits together every day is always a whole lot of fun but I’ve always wanted to style men as well. I’ve had the chance to do some menswear styling on music videos but thought it’d be a fun exercise to do for a daily outfit. I’m lucky because I have access to the perfect model, Offner, who probably has just as much clothes as I do. So this week’s outfits will be dedicated to menswear!
I’ve always had a thing for the rocker look. So for the first look of the week, I went for a Jean Paul Gaultier inspired outfit. I love a well-fitted leather jacket on a man and this custom made jacket from The Cast NYC has the raddest details and cut. It goes with every kind of outfit! The striped shirt is also a classic and a pair of bright slacks adds a nice pop of color to the look. For accessories, I added this badass Verameat necklace that we got in LA last year. I love Verameat’s designs because they’re unisex and are so versatile.
One of the things I’ve recently been really stoked on are personalized engravable necklaces. I find they add something unique to any outfit. The lovely ladies over at Stella & Dot recently launched their fall collection, which includes a series of pretty customizable and engravable necklaces. I was immediately drawn to their Signature Engravable BarNecklace, that you can get in either silver or gold. I decided to get myself a super cute gold “MELSAYS” necklace. It’s perfect for layering and for every day wear. I’ve gotten other products from Stella & Dot before and what I like about this brand is their attention to detail. Not only are these products made and delivered incredibly fast, the company also pays special attention to detail, which is always appreciated!
I’m really excited to announce that you too can get yourself a special engravable necklace from Stella & Dot. ENTER THE CONTEST BELOW FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A$25 GIFT CARDFROM STELLA & DOT! The contest runs until August 15th! *Contest open to residents of Canada only*
Been on the road this past week for work in Quebec City. While I was there, I got to see some amazing shows including Tegan and Sara (hello dreamy sunset!), Serena Ryder, Mozart’s Sister and Phantogram (best show I’ve seen this year, hands down!! In case you haven’t checked it out yet, go read my 5 Questions With: Sarah Barthel of Phantogramhere). Happy to be home for a few days before heading to NYC!
Gearing up for more summer travels next week. Can’t wait to be back at one of my favorite summer festivals – the Festival d’été de Québec in beautiful Quebec City. One of the bands I’m really looking forward to seeing is the Toronto outfit Electric Youth. This song “The Best Thing” has been in my head all day! What summer festivals are you excited for this summer?
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! So nice to finally be home again! A brunch and a movie was in order this weekend. I saw 22 Jump Street, which was an ok sequel to 21 Jump Street. The movie had some funny moments but the story is basically the same. The one thing that was cool was the fact they kept alluding to the production budget during the movie and that the studio had allotted twice the budget to basically remake the same film over again hah!
I also went to a super fun day trip to Grand Bend. It had been a while since I went there. It’s only 2.5 hrs away from Toronto. I like Grand Bend, because it’s a lot cuter than Wasaga Beach. They recently built new restaurants and art galleries right by the marina, which is a super sweet spot to grab lunch or dinner. The new Smackwater Jacks Taphouse has a really great patio, with their very own beer on tap and local fish to choose from. Grand Bend is also a great place to go buy antiques for a lot cheaper than in the city. And if a packed beach isn’t your thing, try visiting the Pinery Park and campground, the beach is absolutely stunning and barely occupied. It’s $16 per car for a day at the beach. It is the ideal spot to picnic and swim! (yes we did swim…or snorkelled for some… I could barely feel my legs after being in the water for a few minutes, but it was well worth it!!)
I’m keeping the Grand Bend beach and summer vibes going today with my brand new green Mendocino shorts. These cute drawstring shorts are ultra comfy and practical. I love the cutout pattern at the bottom, it gives them a “dentelle-like” feel. I paired the shorts with my leopard & gold tank and some gold accessories!
The long weekend is just around the corner!! And the countdown to my next big trip is fast approaching. Europe in T-2 weeks! I’m so excited!
I can’t wait to share with you all my next 5 Questions With interview on Sunday. I’ve got another amazingly talented lady that I’ll be profiling. Make sure you check the blog on Sunday to see who it is! I’ll give you a clue: Vancouver!
Last night, I was lucky to attend the HAÏM concert in Toronto at the Kool Haus. I’ve been a big HAÏM fan ever since their first couple of singles, before any official EPs had come out. One of my friends in LA had introduced me to them during one of my many trips. I was right away drawn to their infectious mix of pop and rock! Every time I wanted to see them live, I just missed them by a day or so. Yesterday, they finally came to Toronto. Though there aren’t too many bands left on my “To-see list“, they were definitely one of them. Last night, they absolutely SLAYED the Kool Haus. I’ve seen them perform on a whole bunch of television shows, livestream concerts, etc. and always thought they gave a good show (though lately, I had seen a few more so-so performances) but last night, they went above and beyond my expectations. Anyone who’s ever doubted their musical chops, their ability to sing, etc. was silenced at the show. My ears are still slightly ringing and my voice is pretty shot today from all the singing I did last night but man was it worth it. Wow! One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while!
Over the years, I’ve amassed a ton of band shirts either via work, friends, etc. Though I have given most of them away now, I’ve kept a few that are more meaningful to me. When getting dressed this morning, and still on a high from last night, I figured it’d be fitting to plan my outfit around a band t-shirt. I happened to find this old Phantogram tee (one of the bands I personally can’t wait to see live again!!) I got when I was working with the band at Indica Records. I paired that with my rad new Modern Vice White Handler boots, some rock n’ roll Springsioux jewelry and my off-white moto jacket. Voilà!
Lady In Red – Is the first thing I heard when I walked down the hallway at work this morning wearing today’s outfit. I must agree it’s a pretty fitting title for my Tuesday getup! I couldn’t be more excited to debut my amazing new custom Oxblood Dove Bootiethat the fine folks at Modern Vice in NYC made for me. These will go perfectly with any skinny jean, dress, shorts, etc. I love making a statement with a bold shoe and I feel these new custom babies will do just that!
What a beautiful day in Toronto today! A perfect day to wear some yellow if you ask me! Yesterday I received my brand new custom Modern Vice boots! I’m so excited about these two new pairs. I especially love the custom handmade Oxblood Dove Bootie! Can’t wait to show you the looks I put together in the next couple of days!!
The last time I remember wearing a headband before this year must have been when I was in high school or maybe even younger. If you check Pinterest (here!) or you go on any fashion website or designer site (here!), you’ll see that headbands are everywhere right now. They are no longer just for Coachella flower girls or for working out, headbands are definitely more of an “every day” hair accessory now. When I received this rad leopard headband from Uranium, I couldn’t help my try to style it. Surprisingly, I didn’t look like a total goof (or at least that’s what I think!). What I like about headbands is that there are all sorts, some dressier than others and are a perfect way to add a little extra something to your outfit. Plus it’s perfect for a bad hair day! Are you a fan of headbands?
