Suspenders

Continuing my special menswear week with a more “hipster” / “prohibition” and “steampunk” inspired look. I found this great Klaxon Howl prospector vest in Toronto back in the fall. The shop on Queen West is the bomb! They always have the coolest new and vintage pieces for men. I love the black detailing around the edges. I paired the vest with some mocha colored slacks, a pinstriped tee and brown suede brogues. I decided to add suspenders to the outfit, just as an extra accessory. I haven’t always been a fan of suspenders… I think they reminded me too much of Steve Urkel when I was younger but I feel like they can definitely be sexy if worn right (I kind of like the nerdy chic look. Funny how taste changes ay?!). I got Offner to just leave his hanging at the back, which gives his look more of a laid back feel.

Paisley

For this week’s second menswear outfit, I went for a more dressy look. Offner had bought this great pair of paisley pants at Topman last year, which I decided to use as a building piece for this look. I think more men should be bold and add prints to the outfit, especially in pants. It can make the leg look slimmer and also ads a certain sophistication to the look, depending on the print obviously. I paired that with a nude colored jersey shirt and complimentary light blue buttoned up shirt. I like this shirt because it almost looks like denim but has a soft fleecy feel. The overall look is comfy but also chic.

Captain

Reminiscing today about the amazing time I had in Capri back in June! This captain hat was the perfect thing to bring back from our wonderful stay there. My favorite thing we did while we were in Capri was hands down renting a boat and exploring the island. So much fun!! If you’re planning on traveling to Capri in the near future, make sure you check out my Capri travel blog here.

Engravable Necklace

One of the things I’ve recently been really stoked on are personalized engravable necklaces. I find they add something unique to any outfit. The lovely ladies over at Stella & Dot recently launched their fall collection, which includes a series of pretty customizable and engravable necklaces. I was immediately drawn to their Signature Engravable Bar Necklace, that you can get in either silver or gold. I decided to get myself a super cute gold “MELSAYS” necklace. It’s perfect for layering and for every day wear. I’ve gotten other products from Stella & Dot before and what I like about this brand is their attention to detail. Not only are these products made and delivered incredibly fast, the company also pays special attention to detail, which is always appreciated!

I’m really excited to announce that you too can get yourself a special engravable necklace from Stella & Dot. ENTER THE CONTEST BELOW FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A $25 GIFT CARD FROM STELLA & DOT! The contest runs until August 15th! *Contest open to residents of Canada only*

Orchid

I have a thing for flowers… I’ve always had. Maybe it’s a girl thing, maybe it’s the fact that I don’t live somewhere where flowers grow outside all year round. I like their delicateness, I like their colors, I like their smell and all of their different shapes and sizes. Each flower represents something different to me, a different time or event in my life. As a kid, I would receive flowers after dance shows, figure skating shows, birthdays, school graduations, etc. My mother would always adorn our house with fresh bouquets of flowers every week. It was just something that made our house not only smell nice but also feel a lot more alive. My favorite flowers are definitely peonies (hence the tattoo), but I really love them all! My dream is to live somewhere where I can have flowers around me all throughout the year. In the meantime, I try to decorate my apartment with flowers here and there, those than can survive with little sunlight or throughout the winter. Happy to have brought this new addition home!

Feather Dress

Hope you all had an amazing weekend! Offner and I went to see an amazing movie this weekend that I’d like to recommend to you all – it’s called Boyhood and features Patricia Arquette & Ethan Hawke. It’s a movie that was shot during a period of 12 years and is probably the most profound movie I’ve seen all year. It’s only out in select theaters but it’s well worth the trip!

I’m starting the week with my favorite summer dress! I bought this Anine Bing feather dress as a present for myself around my birthday in June and have been wearing it non-stop since. It’s super comfy and I’ve been wearing for all sorts of occasions. Speaking of Anine Bing, she has a brand new lookbook out for her upcoming fall collection. You can check it out here. Anine’s designs have really become my favorite this past year or so. I’ve mentioned her name a couple of times on the site before, but I really love everything she puts out. My closet is slowly becoming an “Anine Bing closet”!
