Francofolies Day 1 #DailyOutfit

Happy Friday!

Spent the day researching for my upcoming interviews at the Francofolies tomorrow and the rest of the week. We also went out to get people’s opinion on some new up and coming Canadian artists with the BRBR sound test. Spoke to lot’s of really rad people either from Montreal or here on vacation.

Tonight, I’m really looking forward to two great FREE shows: Pandaléon are playing at 8pm, followed by Dumas. Both are excellent French artists. So if you’re in Montreal and looking for something to do, come by the Quartier des spectacles for some good music!

Today’s outfit is pretty colorful! I kept the heels to a minimum since lot’s of walking around is required while filming and also for the shows tonight. Love my new colorful poncho that I got from Urban Outfitters in LA last week and also my Peace Hand necklace from Verameat!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

White Wednesday #DailyOutfit

Happy Wednesday!

Hope your week is going well! I’m finding very hard to concentrate at work this week because I’m so stoked for my upcoming trip to LA next week. That said, I’m trying to stay focused and am working on planning out first two festival outings of the summer: the Francofolies de Montreal and the Festival d’été de Québec.

We’re putting together some of the new series that we’ve been working on for BRBR season 2. I should have a little preview for you all in the next couple of weeks 🙂  In the meantime, in case you missed it, you can now watch our 1hr special that we filmed in Ottawa at the Canadian Tulip Festival at the beginning of the month with Hollerado, Hotel Morphée and Pandaléon. Can’t believe over 1200 people showed up for our event! What a memorable night!!

For today’s outfit, I’m wearing white, off-white and a pop of neon green. I’ve also decided to layer some of my favorite necklaces: the Biko Jaci necklace & Biko Colby necklace as well as an older H&M neon green necklace. No arm swag today, just a few dainty rings from Verameat (obsessed with the Vampire Crown), Bing Bang & my daily staple – the Lady Muerte ring from Springsioux (have you checked out some of the new fall/winter 2013 items previewed on their site?! You can do so here).

Tulip Party #DailyOutfit

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hope you’ve been enjoying the stellar weather in Toronto these past couple of days!!

What a blast the Canadian Tulip Festival show was this weekend! It was so great to see everyone who came out to watch Pandaléon, Hotel Morphée & Hollerado play. Hollerado are such a fun band, perfect for this free outdoor show! Thanks to all the bands who took part in the festival and everyone who came out to support them and BRBR. It amazes me how far we’ve come since first launching BRBR exactly one year ago. To see that big BRBR banner and hundreds of people having a good time, really warms my heart… And it’s only the beginning!

Since I was hosting the event along with my two colleagues, I made sure to dress appropriately! I wore my rad southwestern inspired Zara skirt, my new fabric wedge Zara boots, my new Karl Lagerfeld ‘7’ watch and a bunch of Biko jewels.

What a memorable night!!

Spring Sandals #DailyOutfit

Happy Thursday everyone!

Super excited to be heading to Ottawa today to host a free outdoor show at the Canadian Tulip Festival tomorrow starting at 8pm ET. The show will feature Canadian rockers Hollerado, Montreal’s Hotel Morphée and one of the raddest up and coming indie-rock bands Pandaléon. If you can’t make it in person, we’ve got you covered! You’ll be able to stream everything live right here. Show starts at 8pm with Pandaléon, 8:50pm Hotel Morphée goes on and Hollerado are set to take the stage at 10pm.

Last weekend while I was in NYC, I didn’t do much shopping but the one thing I did buy was a new pair of nude and white sandals. I wanted to get some sandals that were simple, versatile, comfy yet still elegant. I wanted something that you could either dress up or down. I found the perfect pair of sandals at Zara (yes, again!) for the perfect price! I’m thinking I’ll be wearing these a whole bunch this summer!

Off to Ottawa! Have a wonderful day xo

May 1st!! #DailyOutfit

May is finally here!!! I love the month of May because all the trees and flowers start blooming. It also means summer is right around the corner, patios are opening up and we can finally start stripping some layers off! May will be a very busy month for me. I’m off to Ottawa tomorrow to present a free outdoor show on Friday live from the Canadian Tulip Festival. Hollerado, Hotel Morphée and Pandaléon will all be performing. The show starts at 8pm. For those of you who can’t make it out in Ottawa, you’ll be able to stream the show online on BRBR‘s facebook page. All the event deets are here.

Following my trip to Ottawa, I’ll be heading to Montreal for a few days and in just over three weeks, I’ll be going back to California!! If you ask me, it’s also the best way to celebrate my upcoming birthday!! I couldn’t be more excited to hang out with friends, go surfing, shop, etc.

For today’s outfit, I kept it simple with a white moto jacket, plain white tee, printed denim pants and wedge sneakers.

This Is What Rock N’ Roll Looks Like! #DailyOutfit

It’s with little sleep but much excitment that I start what will probably be the longest work day of my life… or at least of the last little while. After months of planning, the day has finally arrived! Tonight is the first ever Canadian Music Week BRBR showcase “Le French Tickler“. Starting at 8pm at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, some of our favorite Canadian artists will be showcasing tracks from their latest releases. On the bill, we’ve got Eight and a Half (ex-The Stills & Broken Social Scene), Peter Peter, Karim Ouellet, Pandaléon, Loud x Lary x Ajust and Claude Munson & The Storm Outside. I couldn’t be more excited to know that the showcase is almost all sold-out! There will be a few tickets at the door and some passes/wristbands will be accepted. More info about the evening here:

The entire show will be livestreamed on our facebook page, so if ever you can’t make it out to the show, you can watch it live starting at 8pm EST here.  We’ll also be taping a special BRBR show with the artists during the afternoon that will be airing on April 1st.

My anthem for today couldn’t be more fitting and is a great pump up track by Porcelain Black!

Last night, I had a blast at Day 3 of World MasterCard Fashion Week. I went to see two shows: Mackage and Joe Fresh.

I absolutely fell head over heels in love with the entire Mackage collection. The first look, as seen below floored me. I loved the mixed leather and fur biker jacket, the burgundy leather skirt and leather leggings paired with their amazing new line of handbags and rad platform heels. I loved the red wool plaid skirts and shorts, all of the leather jackets, the fur, the long trench coats with leather trim, the schoolgirl backpacks and the little leather biker gloves. To me, Mackage’s fall/winter 2013 collection was the perfect mix between class and rock n’ roll! I can absolutely see myself wearing every single piece of the collection, it’s totally my style. I couldn’t be more excited to have seen such an inspiring runway show. Definitely my favorite this year! Now, I need to start saving up, if I want to add the new collection to my wardrobe.

The second collection I saw was Joe Fresh‘s Fall/Winter 2013. The room was absolutely packed for the show, which started off with some lovely French indie/electro music. That definitely got my attention! Though I don’t own many Joe Fresh pieces, I’ve always respected the line for creating quality affordable and stylish pieces that can be paired up with just about anything. They’re perfect for basically any occasion. Last night’s collection, was all about black and white, shimery fabrics, biker jackets, studs and headscarves?! Yup, a handful of models were wearing headscarves over their short black bob wig. I can’t say I was a big fan of the headscarves but… My favorite items of the collection were the black and white biker jackets, the black faux fur jacket and all of the black skirts. I also loved hearing French music throughout the show. Also, not sure if it’s just me, but Joe Mimran‘s final wave at the end seemed so heartfelt. He really seems like a sweetheart! Overall, I definitely see myself adding a few of those pieces to my wardrobe.

So for today’s special CMW show taping, I was inspired by the new Mackage collection and put an outfit together that mixes: leather, platform heels, a biker jacket, black.

Pocahontas #DailyOutfit

Bon matin everyone! Can’t believe Canadian Music Week is just a week away! So much preparation to do before the festival starts.  Next week, we’ll be taping two shows, I’ll be covering the festival for my show, running around doing live sessions and interviews with bands. I’ll also be at the Indies and in addition to all of that BRBR is putting on its first ever CMW showcase at the Gladstone Hotel on the Thursday March 21 called “Le French Tickler“. We’ve got a ton of rad Canadian artists on the bill: Eight and a Half, Peter Peter, Karim Ouellet, Pandaléon, Claude Munson & The Storm Outside as well as Loud x Lary x Ajust. For more info on the show, go here. And, if you’re still in need of a wristband for the festival, my show is giving away 10 free pairs, right here.

I was super excited to get dressed this morning because a) I had picked out my outfit in advance, something that I rarely have time to do these days and b) I had a brand new Zara skirt to wear!! The print on the skirt reminds me of Pocahontas, I’m not sure why but it just does! I’m really obsessed with Zara‘s new spring/summer 2013 collection. I love all the aztec prints, southwestern vibe, vibrant colors, suits, blazers, dreamy shoes, etc.  I also received the perfect sparkly necklace last week from Luxe Craving, which fit perfectly with the colors of my new skirt.  Have you check out their new jewels yet? You can do so right here!

BRBR at CMW

I’m super excited to announce that my show and I will be putting on our first ever Canadian Music Week showcase on March 21st at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto.

I’ve been attending Canadian Music Week for 8 consecutive years now, it’s one of my favorite festivals because it officially kicks off the spring and summer touring and festival season.  For those of you who don’t know what Canadian Music Week is, it’s similar to Austin’s South By South West, but a little more tamed  organized and colder weather. Basically, it’s a week-long music festival where artists, industry folk and media gather together to attend panels and put on showcases all in order to promote up and coming talent.  Over the years, I’ve attended as a label rep, radio host, tv host, manager, etc. and each year I’ve met some amazing people and discovered great artists.  All of Toronto’s music venues and bars become locations for showcases in the evening and during the day the Royal York Hotel is transformed into the meeting point for everyone in attendance. All you have to do is sit down with your computer in the lobby and you’ll make tons of great new connections.

So for our first ever showcase with BRBR, we decided to showcase some of our favorite up and coming bilingual Canadian talent.

Peter Peter – a Montreal singer-songwriter who’s buzzing these days in the US and across Canada thanks for the first single off his sophomore effort, a single that reminds me a lot of M83’s “Midnight City”. Everyone knows I have a little sweet spot for him.  He definitely has big cross-over potential in the English market.  Keep an eye out for him!

Eight and a Half – some might call them a super group because this trio features ex-members of The Stills and Broken Social Scene.  Dave Hamelin and Liam O’Neill recently re-located from Montreal to Toronto to pursue their new musical project.  Their first release was one of my favorites last year. Check out the rad “Go Ego” here:

Karim Ouellet – one of the most talked about artists in Quebec right now. His second record “Fox” made it to the top of the charts, not bad for a young artist from Quebec City. I really respect what he does, he’s a great lyricist and talented multi-instrumentalist.  The track below “Amour” plays everywhere across Quebec these days!

Claude Munson & The Storm Outside – is my latest discovery! They’re a great folk-group from Ottawa. Claude Munson’s voice is absolutely charming. It’ll be my first time seeing them live but I couldn’t be more excited! Take a listen here:

Pandaléon – a trio of young guys from St-Bernadin, Ontario, who are currently working on their first full-length. They’re recording and producing everything themselves straight out of their garage, turned jam space.  Their mature songwriting has always impressed me! They don’t have an official video out yet but you can get a little sneak peek of their track “Taché” here:

So if you’re into discovering great Canadian artists, I highly recommend coming to check out our little showcase on March 21st. Yours truly will be hosting the event 🙂 If you’ve got a festival wristband or pass, you can get in for free. If not, tickets are available here: http://canadianmusicfest.com/tickets/ticket-details/?schedule_ID=88&band_ID=5755

Hope to see you there!
