Life is all about making decisions and taking chances. For the past couple of months, I’ve been struggling to make a big decision that had become pretty darn obvious that I needed to make.
As much as making big moves in life are incredibly scary, intimidating, etc., they also make you feel alive. I’ve learned in my life thus far that if I’m not happy, I need to take a look at my life, reassess the things that make me happy vs. those that do not and have the courage to eliminate what is making me unhappy. Whether it’s family, friends, lovers, work, etc., all these elements should add something positive to your life and if they do not, then one must have the courage to make the changes necessary in their life to get rid of that negativity.
After months of pondering, I finally decided to make that decision I had been putting off for a while. The uncertainty that comes along with making that decision is scary but also exhilarating and freeing. I can honestly say that I am now right where I wanna be. Excited for the adventures ahead!
I spent the past two weeks exploring beautiful British Columbia. What makes BC so special is that they’ve got it all. They have the mountains, the ocean, nature, the city and also small villages. It’s a truly stunning place to spend time in. Just on this trip, I saw whales, seals, sealions, bald eagles, countless birds, etc.
After having spent the past two months traveling non-stop across the country, it was nice to finally get some time off in BC to explore nature and get away from the bustle.
I’m thrilled to share with you in the coming weeks, a series of travel and fitness blogs on this magnificent province.
As I write this post, I’m waiting for my flight back to Toronto and I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t going to seriously miss this place. I hope I won’t have to wait another 3 years before heading back to beautiful British Columbia!
Well… after a lengthy day, 2 days of traveling, we finally made it to Europe. The 9 hours of jet lag definitely has me feeling a little funky but I knew that going to the ocean today would be the best thing to get me feeling energized again.
No surfing for today, just enjoying the lovely waves, the sun and the beautiful Côte Basque scenery. Some days, it’s nice to be a beach bum, I rarely get the chance to just lay by the beach so I’m making the most of it!
Excited to be heading to the #ProAnglet surf competition later this week. Got any recommendations for the Côte Basque? Send them my way!
I love being able to discover new gems in Toronto even after having lived here for six years. Last week, Offner and I spent a few hours at the Humber Bay Park in the west end. I’ve run in the area before but had never been as far west in the park. To my surprise, the park is stunning; there’s a nice beach area, picnic tables, a beautiful view of Toronto, etc. It’s the perfect place for a picnic or to read a book. If you’re in need of a relaxing spot and want to get away from all the craziness that you usually find in other parks downtown ie. Trinity Bellwoods, this is a great option that is easily accessible via the Martin Goodman Trail. I brought my new SanukYoga Slinged Up sandals with me for the trip, perfect for the relaxed waterfront vibes! 😀
I don’t usually set myself seasonal goals but I’ve decided that I was going to do so for the summer.
My goal this summer: be close to the water, as often as possible.
The one thing I want to do most in the summer is be outdoors. I don’t have the luxury of living somewhere where it’s nice 365 days a year, so when it finally gets warm and sunny out, all I want to do is be outdoors and preferably somewhere by the ocean or close to a body of water. It’s impossible for me to be focused and concentrate indoors when it’s so nice out!
Because Toronto is located right on Lake Ontario, I try to go for runs on the Martin Goodman Trail several times a week and bike close to the waterfront. Any time I can go swimming in a lake, wakeboard or SUP, you’ll find me on the water. I’m also very excited to be spending a full month in California this summer, so that I can fill up on Vitamin D and get my fair share of ocean time. Can’t wait to just walk to the beach in my favorite Sanuk flip flops (pictured below!), wearing my bathing suit, carrying a picnic and a surfboard. I can’t wait to smell the salt air, feel the ocean breeze, watch the waves and then go for a surf or swim!
With summer right around the corner, it’s time to start summer planning! After having spent the spring primarily at home, I’m excited for all the travels that are coming my way this summer. For the first time since I was a teenager, I will actually get one full month of vacation, I can hardly believe it! I couldn’t be more excited to be spending this time in my favorite place on the planet, you guessed it: California!
This upcoming trip will be a fun one since we’ll be incorporating a mini road trip along the way, spending time in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada. We’ve already started planning for it and I can’t hardly wait! We’ll also be spending time in my favorite little beach town – Encinitas as well as Los Angeles and also going out to Palm Springs for the first time ever. If you have any travel recommendations, or must-see things while we’re there, please send them my way. I’ll be publishing a special series of blogs during and after the trip, so lot’s of travel tips coming your way this summer!
Today’s outfit, couldn’t be more representative of the California state of mind. This is the perfect post-surf and biking outfit. Boyfriend jeans, a California tee and a pair of brand new Sanuks. I love these new ones called “The Boardwalk“, they’re the perfect summer colour! Comfort and class, all wrapped into one!
I couldn’t be more thrilled to have partnered up with Sanuk, to showcase some of my favorite shoes, sandals and sidewalk surfers from their brand new Spring and Summer 2015 collection. Long before Sanuks were available in Canada, I would always come home with a new pair of Sanuks, every time I traveled to California. Because all the local surfers had a pair and because I was so in love with everything surf-related, my obsession with Sanuks began. I’ll always remember how my feet felt trying on my first pair, it felt like I was wearing slippers, hands down the most comfortable thing I’ve ever put on my feet! It’s only fitting that the brand’s slogan is “Never Uncomfortable” because I have yet to get a pair of Sanuks that didn’t feel like I had cushions under my feet.
Their sidewalk surfers have become my go-to summer footwear. Not only are they perfect for the beach but also for walking around, biking and all the outdoor activities that I get up to. I’m thrilled to see the brand has grown and introduced so many new styles over the years. They always present lot’s of great colors, prints and fabrics yet without ever compromising comfort.
I’m excited to be showing off my new MOLLIE shoes, with their super comfy footbed. What always gets me is their rad outsole, how awesome is a brand that puts smiley faces on their soles? I love the Sanuk spirit! They radiate sunshine, positive vibes and I’m all about it! You can check out other styles from the new Sanuk Spring and Summer 2015 collection here 🙂
Finally back from my vacation, which means back to blogging! Hope you’ve been keeping well these past two weeks. Can’t wait to share with you all my latest travel adventures. New travel blogs coming soon!
In the meantime, I’m excited to share photos from this beachwear photo shoot I did while I was in Encinitas with a super talented and nice photographer from the San Diego area called Nathan Petty. I’ve been following Nathan’s photography via his Instagram account (that you can follow here) for the last couple of months and had loved all of the surfing action shots and portraits he had been posting. We did a 3-part shoot on and around the beach. Here are pics from the first part of our shoot together. The second part will be coming tomorrow!
