With the clocks rolled back and the end of Daylight Saving Time, it can only mean one thing – winter is right around the corner! Since I have yet to runaway to California, Mexico, Florida, Portugal or anywhere warmer than Toronto, it looks like I’ll have to endure one more Canadian winter.
As of late, I’ve really tried to make the best of the season I so hate by a) traveling a lot b) practicing a multitude of winter sports and c) having fun with my winter style. Not an easy feat to look stylish but also stay toasty and warm. On the weeks that get really cold, I really couldn’t care less if I look like an Abominable Snowman, as long as I am warm and my extremities aren’t freezing. Luckily, winter doesn’t get too harsh in Toronto and we usually don’t end up having much snow downtown. It’s still feasible to go outside while looking relatively cute. Plus with so many brands now making amazing threads for winter, there’s definitely a way to stay stylish even in subzero weather.
Here are some of the things I’m coveting for my winter wardrobe this year:
Pink is a hot color this season! Though I don’t have a pale pink jacket to strut around in, I definitely have a few pink garments and accessories that I like to wear once in a while. Like most girls, I loved pink as a child but haven’t been wearing much pink in the last few years. I like that the clothes I’m wearing today are a variation of pink! Are you someone that wears a lot of pink?
Happy Friday everyone!!! Hope you all are having a lovely day thus far and gearing up for the weekend! I’ve been listening to this track non-stop all week, I think it’s perfect for this sunny Friday!
Last night I ate at one of my favorite restaurants in the city called La Carnita. It’s a great modern/fancy taco restaurant on College Street in Little Italy. Their tacos usually go between $4.50-$5. I had the cripsy avocado and frijoles taco last night, it was delicious. My friend who works there also let us taste their amazing churros. I think they’re hands down the best churros I’ve ever tasted. Unlike Grand Electric, who offer a similar menu, you don’t have to wait for 2-3 hours in line at La Carnita. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is laid back and you’re bound to have a good time. So if you’re looking for a new place to try out or are already a fan of the taco, check out La Carnita. Plus, as a little extra, they bring you a rad limited edition art print with your bill. Such a neat idea!
Today’s outfit is a little preppier than usual. I ripped my red pants while getting dressed this morning (don’t ask!) so I had to rethink of an outfit in a few seconds as I was already running late for work. I took inspiration from my new Zara wedge boots and put this one together 🙂
I think today will probably the coldest day of the year in Toronto… at least I hope so! Trying to keep warm today by layering a few pieces from my wardrobe. I’m wearing my favorite Topshop wine-colored jeans with a black lace top and a denim jacket.
Yesterday I booked a much needed trip to LA. Can’t wait to go surfing, hang with friends and also change up my wardrobe a bit. Warmer weather always makes getting dressed a lot more fun! I’m also really looking forward to hitting some of my favorite shops on Melrose (Wasteland, Jet Rag + all the little indepedent shops) and bringing back some new pieces for the spring/summer.
