Valley of Fire

Though the ocean is definitely my element, I recently found a kinship with the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Maybe it’s because I found a place who’s colors matches my fiery mane… ūüėČ The one thing that’s for sure, is that the day I spent at Valley of Fire, was one of the best days of my life. Seeing 4000 year-old petroglyphs, 150 million-year-old petrified logs are just some of the things that make this place so amazing! If you have yet to give this place a visit, you’ll want to make the drive out there next time your in Vegas!

Take me to the highest level. As the end of 2014 draws near, I reflect on this past year and all of the amazing things that have happened and what I can do to make 2015 even more stellar. I feel that as humans, we always desire to take things to the next level, escalate… I think it’s almost engrained in us to become better at everything, make more money, obtain a better job, etc. Though there are many things I want to improve (including this very blog!!), I think one of my resolutions for the new year will be to take things to the next level but in the most human kind of way. I want to keeping growing as a person and keep working on becoming the best person that I can be. I want to surround myself with people that are positive so that together we can take life to the next level!

Canadian Videogame Awards

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Last night I took part in my first ever Canadian Videogame Awards at the Carlu in Toronto. The event celebrated the best videogames made in Canada in 2013 and 2014. This was my first time being part of an event of such caliber in the video game industry. Mark Meer (as seen rehearing above yesterday afternoon), the voice behind the incredibly popular Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect games hosted the event. Hundreds of game designers, animators, game studios, actors, etc. filled the room as well as members of the general public. The event was also livestreamed on TWITCH and over 110 000 people watched.

I spent the night working on an exclusive behind the scenes doc for the CVAs that will be coming out in just a few days! The three things I learned from being at the CVAs last night: 1) a lot more video games than we think are actually made in Canada 2) Ubisoft wins pretty much every prize 3) people in the gaming industry are a lot friendlier than in a lot of other industries! ūüėÄ

Took a beautiful stroll on the waterfront in Toronto this evening after work. I love having time to walk around and explore my city without having a particular goal in mind. I love breathing in the cool and crisp fall air. The walk was very welcome after a busy day at work!

Moto Jeans

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an outfit on the blog. Fall is just around the corner, so it’s time to whip out my pants again. Though I’m still completely in denial, I’m excited to start layering again, wearing cool coats and vests and rocking some of the new items I recently got for my fall wardrobe. For the second time this season, I’ve completely cleaned out my closet. It’s a scary thing to empty out the closet but my rule is – if I haven’t worn an item in over six months, maybe it’s time I give it to someone who might. I hate clutter and so it’s a good cleansing experience to do a closet cleanup! I’m excited to be adding new pieces to my wardrobe, pieces that I feel reflect more my mood and vibe these days, which I’ve noticed is a lot more minimalist than it used to be. Maybe it’s just a phase I’m going through but as of late, I’ve been wearing a lot less jewelry (but always stick to some daily favs – Stella & Dot bar necklace, COMMUNION By Joy ring, Etsy wave necklace) and a lot less color and prints. I’ve been keeping my outfits to neutrals mostly. I know the season change has a lot to do with it! One thing’s for sure, I was really inspired by all the shows at NYFW last week. In case you missed it, I created a special Pinterest board with some of my favorite runway looks. Check it out here. What are you most excited about for fall?

Finally back from my vacation, which means back to blogging! Hope you’ve been keeping well these past two weeks. Can’t wait to share with you all my latest travel adventures. New travel blogs coming soon!

In the meantime, I’m excited to share photos from this beachwear photo shoot I did while I was in Encinitas with a super talented and nice photographer from the San Diego area called Nathan Petty. I’ve been following Nathan’s photography via his Instagram account (that you can follow¬†here) for the last couple of months and had loved all of the surfing action shots and portraits he had been posting. We did a 3-part shoot on and around the beach. Here are pics from the first part of our shoot together. The second part will be coming tomorrow!

Reminiscing today about the amazing time I had in Capri back in June! This captain hat was the perfect thing to bring back from our wonderful stay there. My favorite thing we did while we were in Capri was hands down renting a boat and exploring the island. So much fun!! If you’re planning on traveling to Capri in the near future, make sure you check out my Capri travel blog here.

Engravable Necklace

One of the things I’ve recently been really stoked on are personalized engravable necklaces. I find they add something unique to any outfit. The lovely ladies over at Stella & Dot¬†recently launched their fall collection, which includes a series of pretty customizable and engravable necklaces. I was immediately drawn to their Signature Engravable Bar Necklace, that you can get in either silver or gold. I decided to get myself a super cute gold “MELSAYS” necklace. It’s perfect for layering and for every day wear. I’ve gotten other products from Stella & Dot before and what I like about this brand is their attention to detail. Not only are these products made and delivered incredibly fast, the company also pays special attention to detail, which is always appreciated!

I’m really excited to announce that you too can get yourself a special engravable necklace from Stella & Dot. ENTER THE CONTEST BELOW FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A¬†$25 GIFT CARD¬†FROM STELLA & DOT! The contest runs until August 15th! *Contest open to residents of Canada only*

Beanie’s Back #DailyOutfit

Snow may not have hit Toronto yet but it’s definitely beanie weather again. I found this super cute knit beanie at H&M the other night and thought it’d be the perfect addition to my growing beanie collection. I used to think I looked silly with a beanie on but it’s definitely grown on me! Do you like beanies? Do you think it’s just a fad?

Speaking of H&M, how exciting is the new Isabel Marant x H&M collection that will be out on November 14th? Everyone’s been talking about it for the last couple of weeks. I saw tons of photos from the official launch in Paris last week and a bunch from the H&M collection preview last night in Toronto. Here are some of my fav looks from their ad campaign… These looks will be flying off the shelves in no time, mark my words!
