Feeling Bohemian #DailyOutfit

What a nice and relaxing weekend I spent! So nice to be at home and not do much! My highlight of the weekend: visiting the new Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto. I’ll have a special post on the aquarium later this week!

I also saw the new Hunger Games flick, which was very likeable. I’ve always enjoyed the fashion and makeup in this series. They always outdo themselves! I also did a fun little purchase on the weekend: I bought a new suitcase! I know, super nerdy but I’ve been dying to get a more solid and better quality piece of luggage for all the travels that I do. I’m excited to bring it on its first trek to France! Yay!!

Feeling slightly bohemian today… I chose to dress in black with accents of beige. Taking back out some of my favorite boots from last season from Steve Madden. I’m also wearing my Topshop fedora, which really seems to be an eye catcher in the street. My boyfriend and I had fun this evening with his new 50mm lens while sipping on some yummy David’s Tea!!

Grey Leopard #DailyOutfit

Happy Wednesday! How’s your thus far? In a week from today I’ll be back on the road for work, probably my last work trip of the year before the holidays. Back to Montreal again to amongst other things, co-host a music gala. Once that’s over, the mental prep for France will commence. For those who’ve been to France before, what were some of your favorite hotspots? Your favorite areas? Anything to recommend? I’m always on the lookout for new things to check out while travelling!

Back with the prints on today’s outfit. I’m wearing a more subdued version of the leopard print with these grey pants. I’ve paired that with some gold brass and grey stone accessories.

Feeling Like A Chick #DailyOutfit

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I went to the movies on Friday night to see the brand new Sandra Bullock and George Clooney flick Gravity in 3D. If you’re a big space, NASA or astronaut nerd, this will definitely be up your alley. It’s 90mins of beautiful images, action and a pretty decent storyline. George Clooney is effortlessly cool and funny and though isn’t present much throughout the film, his comic relief easily welcome. Not my favorite movie as of late, but worth watching!

I also checked out the new Cibo Wine Bar that just opened up two months ago on King Street West. I’ll have a full review of the restaurant for you later this week!

Today’s outfit makes me feel like a chick… I mean one of these! I kept the accessories to a minimum opting for a badass shark tooth statement necklace from OIA Jules!

Happy Hump Day! What’s on the program for your Wednesday?

The weekend is approaching fast. I get to stay in Toronto again! This weekend is the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, basically a free all-night contemporary art event happening all around the city. I think what makes me the most excited about Nuit Blanche is all the food trucks that are going to be parked around the city. Though there isn’t a specific food truck event happening this year, I’m looking forward to checking out a bunch of different vendors for some late night snacks. Check out the list here. Any exhibits that you gotta check out this year?

Post-Polaris #DailyOutfit

Just got back from NYC yesterday, after an amazing long weekend trip! Make sure to check my blog in the next couple of days to see a little recap on my trip featuring some of my favorite spots of the weekend! We tried some amazing new restaurants that I’m excited to share with you all!

Yesterday, I flew back to Toronto early in the morning because I had the honor of presenting a band at the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. I wasn’t able to divulge until yesterday that I was chosen to be one of this year’s presenters alongside Sarah McLachlan, Sebastien Grainger, George Stroumboulopoulos, Martin Gero, just to name a few. So humbled by the fact that I was presenting with these inspiring folks.

I was chosen to present Young Galaxy, whom I absolutely love. Their latest record Ultramarine is a real gem. They were my top pick on this year’s ballot. I was so nervous but so humbled by the whole experience. Thanks to the band for being so inspiring as well as Steven Jordan & Claire Dagenais for all of their amazing work.

You can re-watch the gala in its entirety thanks to AUX TV here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3sUG8RfkKA

For today’s outfit, I decided to wear my new Topshop threads that I bought in NYC this weekend. I’ve never been one to wear hats but out of curiosity while browsing around the big Topshop store on Broadway, I saw a cool looking hat and decided to try it out. To my surprise, I didn’t feel as ridiculous as I thought I would feel wearing it. So I bought it 🙂 Plus, I bought this fun snakeskin dress. I also had to stop by my favorite little boutique in Williamsburg to get a new Verameat buddy. I got a new gold Brachiosaurus pendant. Nerd alert 😉

Patterns #DailyOutfit

Morning!

Last night after work, I saw the first ever Canadian screening of the Greek film Wasted Youth at the TIFF, a movie that was loosely inspired by an event that happened in Anthens, Greece back in 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed the Q&A with the movie’s two co-directors following the screening. Though not scripted and produced with a small budget and diy attitude, the movie is beautiful to watch and tells a very poignant story of a young skateboarder and middle-aged policeman, who’s lives are set to cross paths. The soundtrack of the movie, all original music from Greek bands is also fantastic! There is another screening this Saturday if ever you’d like to check it out!

For today’s outfit, I’m mixing patterns: Black and white vs. camo! If my mom were to see my outfit today, she wouldn’t be very proud. It basically goes against everything she taught me about fashion (no mixing prints, no mismatching colors, etc) but I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed prints on runway photos from NYFW so I figured I’d give it a shot. You like?

Dressing Down #DailyOutfit

Happy Wednesday!

Hope your week has been off to a good start. What did you get up to during the long weekend?! I was up in northern Quebec covering the last music festival of the summer for work.

I’m back in Toronto until tomorrow and then it’s off to Miami! Can’t wait to be back on the beach and to swim in the ocean!! It’s supposed to be hot & humid so I’m packing as light as possible! I’ll be posting a blog following my trip with my favorite places to eat, hang and shop 🙂 Stay tuned!

I woke up to fantastic news! My friends The Balconies released a brand new video today for their hot new single “The Slo”. Check it out below:

Today, I’m dressing down one of my fancier dresses by adding a custom-made acid wash sleeveless jean shirt that I got in Vancouver last summer.

Roar #DailyOutfit

This week, Katy Perry launched/leaked two new singles, one with her on and off again beau John Mayer, a sappy love song called “Who You Love” as well as her already hit new single “Roar”. I’ve always been a fan of Katy’s music, I love her colorful pop and the magical universe that she transports her listeners into. It reminds me of my childhood and can always put a smile on my face. I thoroughly enjoyed her music DVD Part Of Me. I watched on Christmas eve last December while I was at London Heathrow waiting for a flight to Montreal for the holidays after having spent a magical ten days in France. For some reason, the DVD really got to me and I really starting appreciating Katy Perry even more. Though I usually always talk about up and coming artists and maybe less commercial tracks, I think there’s nothing wrong with also liking top 40 artists and big pop stars. I’d say Katy Perry is probably one of my current favorite pop darlings along with Rihanna and Beyoncé. What can I say, I’m kind of a sucker for a good catchy track.

Today’s daily outfit is inspired by “Roar”! If you haven’t heard the track yet, here’s her emoticon lyric video for the track:

Grey Knee High #DailyOutfit

It’s a pretty chilly summer day in Toronto today and because I wanted to still wear a pair of shorts, I found a great alternative to keep my legs warm – Knee Highs Socks!!

I love today’s outfit because it feels pretty badass with my new faux leather biker jacket from Zara, my Springsioux poncho, my The 2 Bandits cuffs and the rad Verameat mermaid sword necklace. I love the mix of black and grey!

How do you keep warm on cold summer days?! I saw a few people wearing scarves and beanies yesterday. Pretty wild if you ask me! I’m not ready to admit yet that fall is just around the corner…

Happy Wednesday!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of helping out my friend, the up and coming Quebec City designer Rudy Bois with a special project in Toronto. I was honored to wear his brand new SS14 collection that will be coming out shortly. In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek 😉
