Today was a much needed day off! After working over 100 hours + in the last two weeks, it was nice to finally sleep in a little and not have anything to do!
The one thing I did take time to do, was to take care of myself – meaning eating healthy homemade food, nap (I never nap!!) and go for a run! Though it’s getting a lot colder in Toronto, I’m still making it a habit to go run a few times a week.
For today’s outfit, I opted for a very laid back look. I rarely wear wool socks and plain leggings out but today was that kind of day. I tried to accessorize my look – by adding a bunch of silver and green jewels to make it a little less plain.
Finally, after probably one of the busiests weeks of my life, I’m back home!! It was really lovely to some my family while I was in Montreal as well as some old friends but as I’ve said before, there’s nothing quite like sleeping in your own bed!! I did however make good use of my hotel’s gym and lot’s of room service while I was away… It made the week go by faster!
Only 3 weeks before our departure for France, so thrilled! I’m really looking forward to being home for those three weeks before I leave again for a month. I’m going to take that time to make lot’s of homemade meals, write Christmas cards, enjoy our newly decorated apartment, lakefront runs and catching up with friends! What is it you love doing most after coming home from a trip?
Kept it pretty basic for today’s outfit. Stripes, super comfy & soft TOPSHOP skinnies and some spiked boots.
It was a rainy weekend in Toronto but I still got to walk around a bit (with my new Hugo Boss bag that I won thanks to the lovely Natalie Suarez & The 88 in NYC. Yay! I love it!!), play some good old monopoly and check out some rad bands at Indie Week. My favorite band of the weekend: Diamond Bones from Montreal. They’ve got a new record in the works, stoked for y’all to hear it.
Today’s the day World MasterCard Fashion Week officially starts in Toronto. Really looking forward to seeing all the SS14 collections. I had such a blast last season! Also looking forward to seeing a lot of fellow bloggers and fabulous fashion peeps from the city.
For today’s outfit, I’m wearing a brand new dress from Zara, some Biko Jewellery swag and my Hugo Boss handbag 🙂
Stoked for Biko Jewellery’s sample sale that starts today! For all the deets, go here.
This week is Indie Week in Toronto. Lot’s of great shows happening around the city featuring some of Canada’s best indie bands. The festival goes on until the end of the week. There are still some tickets left, so if you’re looking for some great Canadian music to check out, go see the line up here.
The hat is back! I love it because not only is it really stylish but it’s also the perfect mix between a fedora and a cowboy hat! Wearing this hat has me wondering if I should buy more 😉
Hope you all had a great weekend! I was up in Montreal for the Gala Gémeaux on Sunday. Though the show didn’t win the award, it was really nice to receive recognition for all the hard work we put into the first season of the show. Long live the underdogs!! It was also a nice occasion for everyone to dress up and have a good time together! Really grateful to Rudy Bois for having leant me one of his beautiful creations.
Really looking forward to being back in France in December. Can’t wait to visit Paris, Lyon, see my family, friends, go shopping, eat delicious foods, etc. For today’s outfit and second show of the season shoot, I was inspired by my Parisian shirt to rock a black and white look.
I’m stoked to finally be seeing a movie at TIFF tonight! I will be seeing Wasted Youth, an international film from Greece. It will unfortunately be the only movie I’ll get to see at this year’s festival due to my hectic schedule but this year’s line-up was absolutely stellar! Have you seen anything cool at the TIFF this year?
Yesterday, the season 2 premier of BRBR aired. This year, we’ve got a brand new studio, series and website! In case you missed it or like Canadian music and want to discover new talent, have a look below 🙂
I’m really honored to be featured on Lisa Ng’ rad new lifestyle blog for women called This Beautiful Day. Lisa is such an inspiring lady! She recently moved from Toronto to LA to continue her career there. You can check out the article here!
Keeping the “nouveau” grunge look going today, with a plaid skirt and my new Zara graphic tee! I attended a private school for a year and remember dreading wearing my plaid skirt uniform but a few years later, I kinda love it! This grunge trend is definitely growing on me a lot… I guess it’s only normal being a 90s kid 😉
Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone’s week has been off to a good start! It definitely felt like a Monday today, was hard to get up today after a late night flight back to Toronto last night. I’m back in the city for 3 days before heading to Montreal for the Gemini Awards Gala on Friday!
Had the best time in Miami this weekend! Ate some amazing food, swam tons in the ocean and got some sweet new threads! Keep an eye out for my new travel blog on Miami later this weekend. In the meantime, you can check out pics from my trip on my instagram feed – @melsays!
It was only appropriate that I wore some of my new items for today’s season premier. Two of the hottest items for fall are – track sole boots & plaid!!
Last night my boyfriend and I went to watch Elysium, the summer blockbuster everyone’s been talking about that features Matt Damon & Jodie Foster. Though I didn’t like the movie nearly as much as I thought I would, three things – the fighting scenes are pretty rad, Jodie Foster’s French is remarkable and I wish healing machines would actually exist… Ah!!
Yesterday, I found out that the new AUX TV series that I recently contributed to called AUX Innovators was now online. I had a pleasure visiting my old stomping grounds to talk about some of my favorite Canadian artists: Grimes & Tegan and Sara. You can watch this great new series here: http://www.aux.tv/shows/aux-innovators/
For today’s outfit, I’m decked out in all kinds of Bing, Anine Bing that is! Wearing my brand new silver stud boots and my oh so comfortable boyfriend jeans that I got in LA last week. I’m also wearing my rad new “A” ring that I got at Urban Outfitters in Hollywood.
Fun day of shooting today with Eli et Papillon! Eli was nice enough to invite her into her Montreal home to cook one of her favorite vegan/gluten-free recipes and desserts with us for our new cooking segment. Marc also joined us to be our official taster! What a fun time we had 🙂 Merci Eli et Marc!
Make sure to check them out on June 18th at Club Soda in Montreal for the Francofolies. Here’s one of their cute videos, in case you need convincing!
Later in the afternoon, I met up with Montreal’s Sèxe Illegal, an interesting duo that claims to have been around for over 40 years in the business, while barely being over 30 themselves. It’s all part of their stage personas and group humor. Interesting chat to say the least… I think the guys drank 7 shots of scotch and 1 beer each during our 10min interview.
Today was also a very special day! Not only was it Father’s Day (Hope all you dad’s out there had a wonderful day!) but it was also my mom‘s birthday. Post-shoot, I had the chance to go have dinner with her and my step-dad since we were conveniently shooting in Montreal. Today, the strongest woman I know, the one who taught me just about everything and is the reason I’m where I am today, is 57 years old. If there’s one thing I wish her is continued health! Over the past 10-12 years she’s been dealt bad health cards and my biggest wish is for her to finally be healthy! I love you mom, Happy Birthday!
Love love my new Lady Muerte tee that I just got from Springsioux! It’s the same design as my Lady Muerte ring that I’ve been wearing since December! 🙂
Spent the day researching for my upcoming interviews at the Francofolies tomorrow and the rest of the week. We also went out to get people’s opinion on some new up and coming Canadian artists with the BRBR sound test. Spoke to lot’s of really rad people either from Montreal or here on vacation.
Tonight, I’m really looking forward to two great FREE shows: Pandaléon are playing at 8pm, followed by Dumas. Both are excellent French artists. So if you’re in Montreal and looking for something to do, come by the Quartier des spectacles for some good music!
Today’s outfit is pretty colorful! I kept the heels to a minimum since lot’s of walking around is required while filming and also for the shows tonight. Love my new colorful poncho that I got from Urban Outfitters in LA last week and also my Peace Hand necklace from Verameat!!
