Last night, I had the pleasure of attending two runway shows at the tents located at David Peacaut Square in Toronto for World MasterCard Fashion Week.
I was really excited to see Beaufille, since I had heard of them through several local blogs and via instagram. When I was looking them up, their site caught my attention right away with a very grungy chic vibe, loved the old photographs of Courtney Love, Kate Moss, Nirvana & more! Their current FW13 collection is grungy goodness so I was thrilled to see what they had in store for SS14.
First, their logo is super rad! I loved the fact that they used a surfer rock band to play live during the show. The guys had mad style and chops! All the models had gelled back straight long hair, some were wearing retro shades, others had layers of dark necklaces and others had interesting mid-arm jewelry. I loved that their show start with a lot of whites, then slowly got darker with light prints, then foam green, then sand color, a few shimery fabrics, then navy blue and dark pieces. Their look is effortlessly cool and edgy without losing femininity. I loved their laced pants, their jackets and long flowy dresses. The intricate detail they added in some of their dresses was also a nice touch. Below are some of my favorite pieces from last night’s show. I can totally see myself wearing all of these pieces next summer! Great way to start the night!

I was really looking forward to the second show last night: Pink Tartan‘s SS14 collection. I had seen her two previous shows so I knew I’d been in for a treat. The show started with a beautiful short film. She also decided to start the show with some white dresses and coats. She slowly transitioned to navy blue by layering the blue onto the white pieces, to then pale blue, cream, then black, bold flowers, bright yellow and then finishing up with some black and white combinations and two stunning dresses at the very end. Pink Tartan really knows how to work with the shape of a woman. All of her pieces are always so flattering and I feel they could fit women of all ages and sizes. I adored her navy blue jacket and skirt ensemble. I was also seriously coveting those mid-calf black shimery skirts and the white button up shirt dress. I appreciated the fact that she used simple pointed toe flats to not overpower her creations. Pink Tartan’s designs make me wish I worked in a high fashion office or that I could attend a polo match or Sunday afternoon tea. She always puts a modern and elegant twist on every design she makes. I was once again very pleased with her collection!

It was also lovely to see some familiar faces last night! I was happy to see one of my favorite ladies @CrystalGibson for a few minutes. Not only is she an amazing person but she’s also a style inspiration!
Night off tonight but I’m back on Wednesday for more! What did you think of the first night?
